Having got used to using an Aerotank with upgraded airflow valve at home on my mod and being able to get a nice draw, I wanted to improve the airflow on the standard Evod as draw seemed too tight in comparison (particularly with some juices). Want to continue to use Evods during the day when out and about (more compact/pocketable etc.)
Therefore I acquired a mini airflow valve to replace the base - much better results even on the lowest air setting, however, I now get a lot of leaking from the base of the coil. Previously there was occasionally a small amount of juice on the evod battery using the standard base however using the new valve it gets quite flooded to the point of leaking.
Why is this? Is it truly compatible with the evod? Am I doing something wrong?
What alternatives do people suggest for continuing to use the evod batteries with a slim tank? The 510 connection of Aerotank seems a much better solution but looks top heavy. Would prefer to stick to a Kanger/Unicoil type.
Second question - I have been keeping my original Kanger dual coils with a view to rewicking/coiling in future (when I get brave). Is the new enclosed design a cynical attempt by the manufacturer to ensure repurchase rather than recycling.
BTW I have also acquired some unicoils but not very impressed with them. How often to rewick?

Is the little o ring under the head on the screw in bit present and complete? Is the head screwed in tight? If you get gurgling as well it could that it is overwicking and unvapourised liquid is dripping down through the head. Hope this helps! argg

The unicoils I have from Virtual Vape have been excellent. I have not used on an evod so unsure why they are not good for you. I re wick every week or so but they would probably last longer dependant on the juice being vaped. Using too much wick in the unicoils, which I have regularly done, causes a lot of flooding. Less is more with the wick!

Yes. I got rid of all my Kanger tanks because of leaking onto the centre pin. Recoiling the newer heads is best done by inserting the coil from the bottom, lining it up with the slots and inserting a filling needle of the right size through the slots and coil. I found I didn't have enough hands and had to get one of those 'helping hands' things with alligator clips to hold the head when fitting the coil into it. It took me a few months to pluck up the courage to recoil. I've always been a DIY disaster so didn't expect it to go well. I couldn't have done it without the advice from people on this forum. The most important tip for me was if it's not going right then pack up and go back to it the next day. I now recoil Kanger & Aspire heads for friends & family. None of them use the dual coil heads and I have several not being used. If you want some send me a PM and let me now what Ohms you want.

I think the mini airflow controller (do you mean THIS?) is only compatible with the Mini Protanks argg and not the Evod tanks which is why you are getting leakage

The airflow control is only compatable with the evod 2 glass evod. They are a different size to the orginal evod.

Yes. That's the one. I do have evod glass 2 I believe.
Have changed the coil and all seems ok for now. Maybe just a dodgy wick (but as it's almost impossible to see...)

Yes. That's the one. I do have evod glass 2 I believe. Have changed the coil and all seems ok for now. Maybe just a dodgy wick (but as it's almost impossible to see...) Really?? What coil did you use to be able to seal the gap between the internal tube and the coil? Is it a longer version than the standard evod coil? we're talking roughly about 1cm increase in length of the coil for the silicon insulators to reach the opening of the internal tube As far as I know, the standard evod and evod 2 has a different base than the evod glass and protanks. Seems like the base of the regular evod's height is way longer in terms of length, leaving a gap if you were to use the mini airflow valve's base. (which could result in serious leaks and flooding) which is why it is advertised as more suitable for mini protanks. A picture of your setup with the mini airflow valve and evod coil would be useful as im considering to use them on evods too.

Welcome to you vincy2699. Why don't you start a thread introducing yourself . . . . Well i actually came across this forum upon searching for information regarding evods particularly. Im more interested in facts and helping others figure out problems with it. Hence, why I slimpy wanted to know how it worked with a different mod by replying here upon signing up. Sorry for the inconvenience, im 21.. smoke ciggies, hookas, all sorts. Short intro there
