Don't get the cheap forstner bit set from toolstation I have it and it's not sharp enough to do a neat job on softwood and doesn't sharpen well. From what I glean there is no point getting a cheap pillar drill and you need to be spending >£180, someone recommended Record as the cheapest decent ones, or get second hand professional one. I have one of these solder stations on offer at Maplin for £40 at the moment they are not pro standard but decent and you can get new tips cheaply on eBay.

Very, Very nice igual. Got your next project in the pipeline ? I'm the same as you, looking for a decent soldering iron. I've got an antex but it doesn't heat enough right at the tip to solder anything. Watched some youtube vids of soldering and some of them look excellent but never managed to catch what kind they were. Anyway I will get my box mod finished when the batteries eventually turn up, but by that time you might have your next pipe finished.

Thanks fir the soldering iron info might see if Santa can purchase something like that. Re forstner bits think I'd try get a decent set something like this www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-16-piece-forstner-bit-setAlways keeping eye on fleabay fir bench drill locally. Have heard same about the record ones supposed to be best of the lower end Regarding next project am thinking either anouther pipe or a box mod. One day I'll attempt a DNA style but need to perfect delicate soldering first. You want a bit of plumbing soldering I'm your man lol.

I have seen a lot for bad how to solder videos, this is one of the few good ones

Done plenty of plumbing soldering, it not hard unless there is some water in the pipe. striker42 showed me a link to a £10 solder station that may be OK (don't know, but the iron looks the same as the Maplin one and has a ceramic element to), I doubt it hold temperature as well with cheaper electronics and probably not temperature sensing, but I don't know and it only a tenner.

Good vid quite informative. My soldering tip must be oxidised to hell n back from the moment I bought it. Never Able to tin it from the off. Had a look about and will do some reaserch on soldering stations. Also one of them tip cleaner things look handy better than a wet sponge lol.
