This is a simple question that'd appreciate reading the awnsers and opinions to, I will not reply but thank anyone that adds to thread.
Last night saw guy using huge mod, look 60w he said, was not his so could not question.
So question, why huge watts, my trusty mods go to 15w but never get near that as happy at 9.5, is there a point ? am i being naive ? am I missing something ? have i got to buy one ?
Many thanks for replies

As with everything how people vape is a personal thing. Some like yourself (and myself) are happy with 7-8-9 watts.
Others like to build sub ohm coils. Open up the air flow and whack up the watts. Bigger throat hit. More intense flavour etc.
There's also newer coils coming out. The BVC coils really do perform better at 12-14 watts but I'm sure they can handle higher, at lower watts they're gurgle central. I have a micro coil and cotton and on the istick if I fully open the air hole it can handle 15watts easily. Massive clouds!
Some cloud chase. Lower ohms. Higher watts.
Then there's some who just prefer how the liquid tastes at higher watts. I prefer custard at say 7wats but was chatting to someone the other day who uses the same juice at 20 watts.
It's all about how you enjoy vaping.

My preferred set up is a coil 0.7ohms-1.2 ohms using 15-20 watts, this gives me personally the best flavour/throat hit. I've built a .2ohm dual coil on a dripper and stuck it at 50w....did I enjoy it?? No did I heck, it was nothing like smoking which, at the end of the day is what vaping is all about-finding something that keeps you off fags. Whilst huge sub ohm clouds might appear impressive I don't want that much vapour in my lungs

Some people like to show off. I'm not judging. The way I see it, these high watt VWs are capable of running low ohm coils, which is where things like a 15w Vamo are lacking, if you want to vape at higher power, for whatever reason. 35w can be an intense vape and doing this with 6mg juice instead of 18mg at, say, 11 watts (MVP or Evic) makes sense to me.

At the moment im ranging between 12-15w and im not bothered about going higher. What appeals to me is the design majority of the designs of the mods are capable of 20w +
I.e the brick mod, zero mod etc all capable of high wattage but I like there designs

I usually vape around 18-20w with my kayfun lite as that's what gives me the best flavour/vapour production without getting a burnt taste but if I'm using a dripper where wicking is less of a critical issue I'll go to 25+w just for the fun of blowing big clouds!

Not really a answer to mart166 question but a nod in the direction of djs comment: 'Some people like to show off. I'm not judging'And the one by csmith10 'just for the fun of blowing big clouds!' I've been vaping for about 18 months and have bought everything vape related online. A local store opened recently and was looking forward to visiting it, having a chat and asking questions face to face for the first time. On entering the place was full of vapour. I felt a need to clean my glasses, and as tried to chat with the 3 of them I was engulfed with clouds of vapour, the atmosphere was distinctly unpleasant (due to the clouds blown in my direction, the guys were fine) as I spoke to them. Yes, I do think there is an element of showing off and it may be fun for them to blow big clouds but it wasn't fun for me.

I have noticed I am now using more watts than when i first started vaping (8W), depending on the juice I now use the Mini Aspires at about 10 to 20W, and with my KFL+s usually between 15 and 20W, I rarely go above 20W but do have mods that can go to 50W (and I have tried once or twice on Max c48W due to build) because you need the higher watts to be able to go to 20W (20W Mods hardly ever reach that figure in reality)

0.7 ohms at 30watts is my cup of tea. Some may call me an amateur cloud chaser, but I just do it for the flavour. To chase higher is not my cup of tea, but each to his own Never ever think you have to go higher. If you're happy then stick with it.

Said I would not reply, but going to say thanks for replies, makes it clearer now (although not if your sitting next to someone using one for huge clouds lol), at least I know i'm not missing out, as those setups not my cup of tea.
Cheers all.

If you are a bit of a gadget freak (like I am), you want to try all this stuff. I was happy at 11 watts but 15 is my norm now
