For those who know me, know im a very lazy moo. For those who don't, I am a very lazy moo!
For the last two years I've been threatening to clear and clean out the boys bedroom. This half term we all mucked in and did it. Didn't take as long as I thought but about 20 bin bags later of toys etc New beds ordered and they are being delivered tomorrow and not next Wednesday.!! I feel an enormous sense of achievement and am inordinately proud of the youngest and middle lad. They didn't complain once! And dodged the vacuum quite handsomely as I swung it around with great abandon and less skill.
Cokes and pizza all round on Friday I think but not in their new tidy and clean room!!

No, don't be silly! I haven't decorated, just cleaned it! Honest to god, I was stepping on stale crisps and half mouldy chocolate caramels . Never allowing it to become a midden again. Surprised they didn't catch typhoid and botulism. No dead mice found so not all bad really ...

We were burgled about 12 years ago, and the burglars had been in my son's bedroom which they shared, they were aged 9 and 14, I hadn't been to look in the boy's bedroom as I was just sat downstairs feeling numb, anyway police came and they asked me to show them lad's room, he went in and I heard him say "bloody hell", I popped my head round door and asked whats up, he replied "don't come in love the bloody barstewards have ransacked the room", well I could have died as the room didn't look any different from day before lol and I went as red as a beetroot and I couldn't look the policeman in the face lol, only one Son left at home now and he's 21 and still a messy bugger . Jules.

Omg! I so relate to that! I'm glad I got round to sorting it eventually but it was the case of out of sight, out of mind. Must do the kitchen too but nobody has died of food poisoning yet so not really urgent

A reminder I'll need to do our boys pit someday soon. Not this weekend, probably next. The older one cleans it every Saturday, bless him, but as is the way of all boys, he never does a thorough job, only a superficial one. It helps, but a big cleanout helps every few months. Time I manned up and faced the mouldy crisps and sweets they've dropped behind the bed...

Fortunately my daughter (17) is quite tidy - unusual I know! - but once every couple of months the number of glasses in our kitchen cupboards swell to original levels after wife and daughter spend a couple of sweaty hours upstairs, grunting down the stairs afterwards with some black bags of rubbish, old college notes, clothes for the charity shop and broken 'technology' which goes to the recycling. And you know what bugs me the most!? I'm the bugger who has to clean out the vacuum cleaner to get all of her long hair out before it gives up the ghost completely. Ah well, a small price to pay, I suppose!

I try to avoid 19 year old son's room midden, wish Mrs Bad would as she just doesn't comprehend the degree of squaller a teenage boy can tolerate before doing anything about it, basically if they can climb over the mess to get to and from the door, PC, Games machine and bed everything fine.

It is not only boys that won't/can't clean up their rooms. My granddaughter lived with me for 3 yrs(13-16yrs old), would not go into her room, I am a very tidy person so I knew I would have a hissy fit. When she asked me to help her to clean it up I couldn't wait to get stuck in. She opened the door and I was met with a mountain of clothing, she insisted she knew which was clean and which needed washing, I put the whole lot in 2 black bin bags and washed the lot! As I had 1 house rule, no food in the bedroom, I was thankful there were no dirty mugs/plates or mouse food on the carpet. She has her own home now which she keeps immaculately clean but, she is still very untidy, or well you can't win them all.

I can so relate to this thread @spikeyfridge although my son's bedroom is spotless now. Mainly cause he's only stayed there twice since we moved house. I hate to think what his flat's like in Edinburgh sharing with 4 other guys
