I have a Russian FT clone, which has been working perfectly for months. Tried it on my wife's new iStick, but it wouldn't recognise the Russian so I lowered the centre pin by unscrewing it with a small screwdriver in the little slot in the end. No joy, but when I popped it back on my Caravela, no joy with the firing but the end of my battery started getting hot. Whipped it off quickly, swopped over batteries, and now await your advice please. I have screwed the centrepin back to where it was, but still no joy, and still warming up the battery far too quickly. Have I inadvertently loosened something inside the attie? (still full of juice, so frantically vaping another Russian dry so I can decant!). I will check the coil etc. when I can.

Sounds like the centre pin you loosened as caused the problem, sounds like something on the centre screw is touching something inside.

The centre pin screw on the Russian needs to be fully tightened as it holds one of the terminals inside in place. If it is loosened, the terminal can move and short against the other one. It sounds as if this has happened to yours.
You'll need to remove the base, realign the +ve terminal and retighten the screw.

If you need to extend the center pin on the atty unscrew and pull out the whole pin . Fit a small oring or plastic disk on the pin as a packer then screw it all back together .

That sounds like the prime suspect, thanks thatguy, really helpful! - I'll give that a go Cousin Itt, thanks for the tip! All in all a good learning curve for me - often wondered if the centre pin was adjustable - now I know it ain't!! Thanks for the help guys, this forum never fails

A video to help you extend that pin chykensa . With some clones you can extend the pin without using o-rings. Not too hard a job.

Glad it was useful. Here's hoping you get it working on the iStick for her indoors.

thatguy - I've watch the vid, but not had time to clean and have a go. Here's hoping too!! (Actually, the Kayfun's for me - she's only using Protanks and an Aerotank, which has the same problem, atomiser head doesn't protrude enough through the base, but not sure how to fix this!).

Install the head into the protank/aerotank and then wiggle the centre pin down a mm or two. The centre pin in kanger tanks does not need to be fully inserted to work.
Once the head is installed, use small pliers or fingernails to wiggle the pin down a touch. It works for myself on a mvp v2 thats a bit of a "female dog" when it comes to firing.
Dont worry about pulling it too far, as long as it is still seated, the pressure from the mods centre pin will push it back as much as is needed, just be careful not to pull it out completely.

Awesome video, I've had the russian since February and didn't know that. Russian now works with Istick without having to faff about with centre pin
