Last night i was vaping as normal when i noticed my mod was getting hot .I have been using the batteries i have for about 18 months with no problems whatsoever .I took the battery out of the mod where it proceeded to get hotter .I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it so i placed it in an empty metal biscuit tin and placed it in an empty metal sink .It was a bit late about 1oclk so i just wanted to get rid fast .This morning i had a look at it it had not caught fire but had come very close .

I have had one explode on me but that was on a charger, is very weird that got hotter on its own, makes you think doesn't it.

What kind of battery and what mod? Also ohms of coil? It sounds like it may have vented or just died slow.

I dont know if this is common knowledge but as we are talking battery safety i found this. Sony Li-ion 18650 2100 mAh battery (US18650VTC4/5)
Note: For safety reasons, we recommend customers do not charge this battery in Nitecore Intellichargers, unless the box states "2014 Version" model on it. Only use chargers that are capable of charging this type of battery. Most Xtar's and "2014 Version Nitecores" can handle the charging load and are compatible with this battery. Please reference your chargers manual to ensure compatibility.

i wonder how many people lable and date their batteries, i wonder if pbusardo takes his own advice and lables and dates his batteries I date all my batteries, but then I read that (and others recommending ditching after 6 months of use) before I had my first battery. Many say they rotate there batteries so they must put some kind of mark on them, why not date them at the same time? I put dates on all my e-liquid also, but batteries seem more important to me.

Take that advice with a pinch of salt, of course the older chargers can handle it or this advice would be posted everywhere on the net. Ironically their listings for the intellichargers don't state whether they are 2014 versions or not.
