Hello all, I have a question that I'm sure you lovely people could help me with. I've been a smoker for 25+ years and have stopped on a number of occasions over the years. Often for long periods.
I have never been a big believer in nicotine withdrawal being as bad as the big companies who make millions selling their nrt products would like us to believe. That's said it does exist and maybe I'm one of those who seems to find stopping relatively easy - but like any "addict" I find "staying stopped" much more difficult.
Previously I have lapsed when out with friends or stressed etc. you guys know the deal.
Anyway, 9 days ago I got sick and couldn't smoke ( didn't want to) I haven't wanted a cig since and still don't, but I know I will soon and really think the ecig could be the way forward for me.
My question is; do I need nicotine to get a throat hit? Given the choice I'd rather be nicotine free ( although in grand scheme of things I recognise nicotine isnt that bad)
I want the throat hit more than anything and would be using tobacco flavour juice. I don't want to start using zero nicotine and then get nothing off it only to go back to fags. But also I don't want to go back to nicotine unless I need it for a hit.
Have others tried zero nicotine and do you get a hit?
I am keen to get up and going and I'm going to order in next day. Feel great bing a non smoker and I think ecigs would be the safety net I'm looking for.
Many thanks to all of you who take time to reply.
Ps: any recommendations re which ecig to use as well as any advice where I may be able to buy one in person in devon south west area would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Jamie

Hello & a warm welcome to the forum Jamie. Firstly, if throat is going to be an important aspect of future vaping to you, I'd go for mixes that are either all PG or PG heavy . . . as that has more throat hit than VG. I would also order Nicotine based Eliquid, it doesn't have to be a high strength, but you'll get more of a hit with some in the juice . . . you can then wean yourself downwards if you decide that's the direction you'd like to go in with your vaping.

I think you're going to struggle to find a decent E-cig shop in Devon, I don't know of any and I spend a lot of time in Devon (will be there tomorrow). Ecig recommendation below: The standard starter kit recommendation to you would be a Riva Kit, some cartomisers and some Juice that you fancy, all can be got from vape-escape for less than what you spend on cigarettes in a week. Probably you will need medium strength (18mg) liquid to start with. Once a carto runs dry just pop another one in, then you just top it up. Use 1 battery whilst you have the other on charge, when the battery runs out just swap over, though you should get at least 7 or 8 hours out of a battery, maybe more. then you can try other flavours/strengths. Riva link www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-riva-110....eginners%5D~151Cartomiser link www.vapeescape.co.uk/kanger-510-l....oil-%285%29~225And i'd recommend a drip tip cos it feels better in your mouth than a blunt cartomiser www.vapeescape.co.uk/transparent-coloured-drip-tips-%28510%2F901%29~142Use the discount code "allabout" to get 10% off of your order. Others will also be along with their suggestions. Whatever you do, keep asking questions here no matter how trivial, no one will thinks they are silly and you'll get a fast reply.

Hello & welcome Jamie, I agree with both Perpy & Des. You can always just start with e-liquid with nicotine in it (nicotine isn't carcinogenic) & then cut down to zero nic when you are ready The Lower Resistance (LR) cartomisers/atomisers will also give you more throat hit. I also recommend the Riva & at the moment Freedom Vapes kit works out the cheapest with the 15% discount code "JAN15". Plus there is a free 10ml bottle of juice included & free P&P - www.freedomvape.co.uk/shop/article_2001/Ego_Riva-Starter-Kit--XL.html?shop_param=cid%3D2%26aid%3D2001%26Edit by Chrissie to amend discount code.

iirc Freedom Vape also offer no nic juice in all their flavours, so you can do a with or without test (and blend them to taste)

I second what Chrissie said - but without a doubt the code is "JAN15" - an ecig should take care of the missing of the hand to mouth bit of smoking the nicotine and the PG take care of the throat hit and the craving i want a cig feeling also didn't feel stressed at all - please note : How much of that can be dealt with a placebo effect i can't tell you as i haven't used no nic juice but what i can say is that i can tell for sure if a juice has less nic than it should or too much

Hey you lovely lot, I was just going to sleep and thought I'd have a quick look, great info from all of you. Many many thanks.
I'll read through properly in the morning but the riva certainly looks good. Also does the drip tip just get used to make it feel better or is it for refilling? I was a little confused ?
I leave to go back to work in London on Monday, if I order from Where you've recommended would it arrive by Monday do you think?
One final question..... Is there anywhere in London that you can go and buy ecigs / liquid etc?
Cheers jamie

The cartomiser's or atomiser's which are the heating part of an ecig, can get quite hot Jamie, so you need a tip of some sort to protect your lips from burning . . . plus you can then refill, simply by dripping juice down the tip. All the Supplier's on the forum are pretty darn hot stuff when it comes to posting orders out, if your order didn't get to you by Monday . . . I'd be very surprised, although you always have to factor in the Royal Mail element. Ps. I don't know of any actual physical shops in London, but that's not to say that there aren't any.

Our advice... Try both kinds of eliquids, with PG and with VG as well. Some of us might just get an ugly cough on vaping PG and the smoke is more dense on VG. The throat hit might be harder on PG but... as I was saying... you might prefer VG as well. The nicotine is not really the only one important. I started with 18mg and I am using the same amount now, after one year of vaping electronic cigarettes. I tried 24mg once and the feeling was like after a very strong coffee. My ears were bumping and ... I didn't feel comfortable while using it. So... I am using 18mg still.

Hi Jamie, Did you know that you'll need either a syringe/syringe bottle or "spikey thing" to re-fill smokeymisers? EDIT: Just seen they supply a syringe with them. The little bungs can be fiddly, I pinged loads accross the room especially when covered in juice! Also I'd recommend getting ifo on how to fill them as they can leak when filling if not done properly. The 5 - 6 days paypal thing is probably because you have not verified your debit/credit card with Paypal and they then send what they call a E-cheque to the supplier which takes a few days to clear, this may delay the despatch of your goods. Sorry to be the messenger of bad news Most of our lovely supplier despatch very quickly on receipt of cleared funds, so fingers x'd

It may well be that you've paid by e-cheque Jamie as Des says . . . I'd check with Kev at Freedon Vape to see how the payment has been processed at his end.
