Tara - another South Westie I see! Quite a few of us in here are from this end of the world. Must be something in the water!

Oops sorry for mistaking her for a bengal - I just noticed the *spots* to begin with. Looking more closely at the face, I can see she is a beautiful British Shorthair, would love to see more pics of her. They are Maine Coons Tara (plus on e old moggie) :-) Lilac, got to admit of having a few mixed feelings about Bengals, they are stunning cats but some do have a bit of a temper to say the least. Hanow, I also just noticed that Tara is in the SW - we could have our own mini vape fest at this rate

Maine Coons, sigh....That's the name! I like big cats, and I especially love their neck ruffs I love the look of Bengals but from hearing experiences from owners and hobby breeders, they can be problematic....A know a couple of Mummy cats ate their kittens straight after giving birth.... There is often too much 'wildcat' in the breed, and I certainly wouldn't trust one around a young child Have you seen an 'Ocicat' ? They are stunning and much more homely cats.

I've just looked at them Tara...they're gorgeous... i want a ragdoll, i was on a breeder's list years ago, but couldn't take one when it was my turn as my relationship wasn't the best at the time and i didn't feel i could bring a baby animal into that... Now i'm in a stable relationship, i would get one, but i have 2 dogs (a boxer & a pug) so i'm not sure how to go about introducing a kitten to them... i looked after my elder son's cat last year for 2 weeks while they were on holiday, and kept him in my room the whole time as my boxer was taking an unhealthy interest in him....

my boxer was taking an unhealthy interest in himOoh err...I shouldn't titter really Ragdolls are so beautiful but I have to admit, I know nothing about their traits / personalitiies. You could introduce a kitten, but you would have to buy one that was 'bombproof' though, meaning reared indoors and used to the TV, vacuum cleaner, doors slamming shut, loud voices and all the usual noises that home has. When I used to hobby breed years ago, all my babies were so used to home chaos that nothing phased them at all when they left, and some did go to homes with dogs. Slow careful introductions are key, and if not done properly, can make for disasterous future relationships between older cat / kittens and dogs / kittens. Go for a breed that isn't temperamental or skittish and I see no reason why you can't have a new kitten Be very careful though, dodgy breeders rear kittens outside in sheds / garages / pens and bring the kittens indoors only to meet prospective owners - sadly these cats will always nervous and not 'humanised' If you contact local breed clubs of the chosen breed you decide on, they will generally only have good breeders on their register, and they will pass on contact details to you. Food for thought eh! While I think, I'll be looking to get a large breed rescue dog next year, so I'll be the other way around....Cats always end up being 'the boss' though!

I hope I'm allowed to post this, but hey James, I've made my first order with you tonight......a very large Benson Fences, a small cinnamon, a small L&B, a protective pouch and a holder I think I should have ordered some tweezers as they seem popular, but doh, I forgot to add them to the order!

I've also heard of many people having problems with Bengals & that it is the most common pedigree to end up looking to be rehomed Lilac, go for a Maine Coon instead, they are big gentle giants that sometimes seem to think that they ARE dogs
