Members have posted in here that in circumstances like yours vaping menthol helps, don't know if you've tried it or not. Touch wood I've not had my usual winter cold yet.

+1 for the menthol. Even though I don't like it personally (I find it a bit harsh) adding something sweet like Lemon or Aniseed takes the edge off but still leaves it effective. In through the mouth, out through the nose (if you can blow it clear first)

as mentioned your best plan is menthols, aniseed and blackcurrant and lemon, they'l be the only flavours you can taste I keep a few 'flu flavours' in stock just in case I get a filthy cold. Hope you feel better soon

I keep a blackcurrant menthol in stock for such times (and the odd other times), like vaping Hall's Soothers or blackcurrant Lockets when you're all bunged up..works a treat

I have a theory! probably a rubbish one but there may be something in it, some of you may remember that as kids when we had colds a coughs one of the things we used to do to ease the congestion was get a bowl of boiling water, put a dob of Vick or Olbas oil in it, then put our head over the bowl with a tea towel over our head and inhale the steam, I think the modern version is called a nebuliser or something, the idea was the steam would loosen everything up and you would cough like mad to clear it, when I was on the cigs I was ok but when I went on rollies I got smokers cough and as it was seemingly getting worse it was part of the reason I tried vaping, something I noticed when I first started vaping was even though I was still coughing it was much looser and after a couple of weeks the cough completly went, so for me the clue is in the word Vaping, we are inhaling vapour just like the old bowl thing so is vaping having the same effect by loosening everything up and making us cough to try and clear it, I noticed when I had a cold I coughed quite a bit but it was a loose cough, I never connected the two but this post got me thinking, I think the coughing may be a good thing as it's the body's way of clearing the crap and I know hospitals still use a form of it for patients with conjestion, if my cough went on for more than a week I might see my Doctor just to be sure but other than that I wouldn't worry,,

iirc my mother used to do the same trick with us, just a couple of menthol crystals in the bowl of boiling water. Menthol crystals can be bought cheaply from a pharmacist.

Karvol Capsules . . . anyone remember them? They were a staple in my Mum's medicine cabinet along with Zam-Buk, which had mystical powers of healing.

See! Vaping Vick works, I'm saying nothing! but some of you are really showing your age if you remember things like Zam Buk, I bet you remember Hacks, Victory V's and Nipits, you can still buy the Zam Buk and Karvol, but I'm posh I use Olbas Oil, it blows your head off but it really works and smells quite nice if you like that sort of thing, Mow,,,
