Wide coil with the centre of the coil roughly in line with the top of the base.
Reg Fairly tight cotton (quite a lot - you should be able to just move it through the coil without it bunching). Just a very small amount in the channels. Roll a fair amount consistently and experiment with the amount in the vertical channels... Eventually you'll get it right and be able to repeat a couple of times... And it will be wonderful. Then you'll loose your mojo and go through the process again until you get it right... and be able to repeat a few times....
I guess the key here is to take notes each time you wick it and eventually you'll have a record of what works (please share results if you pursue that analytical path- I only have the intelligence to know this is a good practise, not the wisdom to do it). Oh - until then, never leave it on a mod or in a vertical bottom down position over night.
Regarding the centre pin - be careful not to strip out the female threads through over-tightening - they are prone to shorting because the centre pin isn't quite long enough.

You're welcome. Not sure if my advice will prove to be good advice (other than the storing the tank upside-down bit though)

The first time bit is important, as i can actually remember what i did, long may the mojo last wide coil, fairly tight cotton, most of it sitting on top of channel, then left a tiny little dangly bit poked in halfway down the vertical channel. Apologies if you are mystified by my super technical description, thanks again tomj777

Apologies if you are mystified by my super technical description, thanks again tomj777It worked? Wowza... I've known technical writers (yup, that used to be a job title) for multinationals write things like "tiny little dangly bit" amidst the jargon - trust me, you're up with the professionals. Mind you, I reckon there's an insey bit of a creative writing background being revealed in "flavoursome clouds of heavenly Squapeness". I humbly suggest that you go to your profile, good lady of East Wivelshire, and change your status to that quote Regarding Squonk - I finally looked that up a couple of weeks ago. Interesting concept, silly name.

or "Thing" (in it's vogue US TV usage: "We need to do a Thing")
Saying that, not every 'ing is stupid. I have a particular fondness for "ping" which can be used in all sorts of silly ways which aren't all that stupid.
