Oh wow, just got home and look at all these lovely replies. Thank you everyone so much. I've ordered a few menthols from freedomvape so will give those a go - my hubby has also got menthol crystals somewhere that he bought for shaving??? so can give those a go with my existing sample size bottles until I get my ratios right.
Going to also try the clearos that you recommended, Leftfield, you can guarantee I'll be back on here for lots more advice from you when they arrive.
Thanks again for all the help (and thanks to Johanino for the kind offer of a drip tip :-) - this is a great place to be and I feel far more confident to have a play with things more now.

Wow, nearly two weeks on now and this is still brilliant. Have switched liquids to Griz's Whisky Cream for a bit until my new whacking menthols arrive. Whisky Cream is lovely folks, well worth a go, perfect Baileys taste and ideal for an evening vape.
Feel like I might be having a bit of trouble with my battery though as it totally ran out but then only charged for half an hour until the green light came on - either it's charging really fast which I wouldn't have thought for a battery that big or it's on the way out. Does anyone else have this problem with the Riva 1100.
Still can't believe it's took me so long to discover this - it's way nicer than smoking, will never go back!

Glad to hear it's going well Jo Make sure both the battery contact and charger contact are very clean and free from any old e-liquid, by using a bit of rolled up tissue. If the battery still gives you problems, just send me an email and we'll get it sorted out for you.

Just to let you know Jo I sent your drip tips (they're tiny and in a BIG padded white envelope - pardon my handwriting. hope they get to you okay) on Friday 2nd class.... I sent you a yellow and a purple one......to keep you going for a wee while... Loads of different types of drip tips. I personally like the belrin ones from the GB (group buy) that Perpy does every now and again (cheap as chips ) but essential like I said.... Pray you get your battery sorted...that don't sound quite right somehow Jane

Without reading back through the whole thread, (I'm feeling lazy!) I get the white washer thingy out of cartomisers with tweezers.

A fine metal crochet is my 'implement' Anne for doing that job. My tool box, such as it is, would be lost without it . . . that and a pair of fine tweezers which are also a staple tool.
