Nah, believe it when I see it - although I think we'll get away with it down here, the North's going to get it worse I reckon!

Its blowing a gale and raining heavily here. Weather Bomb, personally I think they would be better saying we are going to get gale force winds and heavy rain.

rednutt, "What the hell is a weather bomb"? It is a sort of a new media word for a low pressure weather system, that will bring, very scary high winds, like 70 mph, which we have been experiencing in Cumbria today and even more just now, more like 80-90 mph as I live near the Fells, (Fells = Mountains, Old Norse), in a valley.
Winds whistling through said valley, freezing temperatures, "Brass Monkey" comes to mind. Have let my log burning fire go out, as for fear of the burning embers that are getting sucked up by fierce downdrafts, and possibly setting nearby farm's on fire. Haystacks etc.
I am now going to retreat under several duvets with a Vamo, 50ml of juice, and hope to re-appear when said "weather bomb" has passed.
Well maybe 100ml of juice, may be needed.

Hope your safe and cozy under multiple duvets with all your vaping gear lynxkat & sammy13 I hope your car makes it through the night. The winds are picking up here again. I'm off to bed before the worst of it kicks in as I'm too nosey and will be up and down all night checking to see if there's any damage.

I managed to get the security windows into my Vape Cave today instead of the 1mm thick Perspex ones that came with it.
As the shed faces west, the windows will take the full force of any gale.

it's propaganda spread by the government in order to divert more public money into defense spending and perpetuate the climate race. we can't allow a weather bomb gap to develop.
in other, not at all related, news...any good deals on tin foil peeps? in this weather, a man needs a spare hat at all times. blood windy out there don't you know!

While agreeing that it is terrible weather conditions out there, I think it is a sign of the times of over dramatization of everything. It's winter we get storms wind rain and while it is miserable and I feel sorry for those stuck in it, me included, its nothing new, we've had it before when, your mother or your gran, dependent on your age just put on their heavy coat and got on with it.

I couldn't agree more; even 10 - years ago the forecasters would have simply said "gales for the next 24 hours", and left it at that. Too much at stake if the forecasters get it wrong now, and the Nanny State getting in a tizz because someone might submit a claim for their shed roof blowing off.
