Hi all, a couple of silly questions that I'm sure someone will be able to answer for me. I have been messing around with vaping and smoking together for a while and now I can say that I am 100% free of cigarettes and have been for the last 24 hours (I was using all my cigarettes to totally remove any temptation, its amazing how many i had 'hidden' all around the house). If only I had been a bit more savvy as I have a VIP cartomiser unit from online that I purchased before I found this website. Don't get me wrong, the unit I have is fantastic and lives up to my expectations, but have I limited myself for the future? My question is: Can I use any cartomiser with the battery unit so I can experiment with different flavours, or will I have to purchase a new unit so I can experiment? Would something like this work with what I have? www.vapeescape.co.uk/boge%2D510%2Dlow%2Dresistance%2D%285%29%7E146As you can see, I am very new to this all. Answers on a postcard please. Thanks

Hi Gumball!! Safe to say, you can use different flavours in the cartomisers you already have and any similar ones you may buy, but a low resistance cartomiser is very likely to cause the batteries you currently have some damage - they basically will ask too much of them.
However, you can buy standard resistance cartomisers, or, alternatively, opt for a more capable battery type - of which there are many - to allow you to use a wider scope of cartomisers and atomisers - and indeed, a whole plethora of other goodies!!!

I had a really hard time finding the answer to this one (I'd never heard of VIP before now) but I can hopefully confirm that your batteries and cartomisers are RN4081 (also fits DSE103 as well I think) as per this thread: ukvapers.com/topic/1089-can-anyone-help/So you would need to look for RN4081 cartomisers (I'm honestly not sure who if anyone still sells these) or get a RN4081 connection converter which you can get here: www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=35It's the M40x one you want I think, for 4081. It's been so long since I've seen an RN4081 I've forgotten what they are. I think it's 510 threading but the polarity is reversed making them a really rare battery type to get anything for which is why the overpriced vendors use them so you're stuck with their cartomisers. The normal 510 cartomisers you linked to wont work with it as the + and - is back to front on the battery compared to the cartomiser I'm afraid. I have absolutely no idea if your cartomisers are refillable with liquid or not, so I can't help you there I'm afraid. It is possible with most cartomisers to fill them by taking the top off so you can fill them with liquid (aka eliquid) bought from a vaping vendor but cartomisers have a life expectancy of around 4 days to a week so you would have to buy more eventually. It is much, much cheaper to fill your own cartomisers. 4081 adapters do exist so you could play around with cartomisers that way but I would strongly recommend you buy a different ecig. If form is a factor then you should check out: - www.jacvapour.com/- www.ivapour-elixir.co.uk/creator-1.html?cat=121- www.safercigs.co.uk/Intro_Vapour_PRO/p705283_4307948.aspx (use "allabout" for 10% off) Those Kr808d-1's have more compatable options, should give you a little more time between charges and are a great starting ecig but since you've already started I'd softly advise you upgrade to the ego! There's a hot deal on right now for an ego here: freedomvape.co.uk/shop/category_2/Electronic-Cigarettes.html?sessid=GcWXnVXqJNSODuNS2VbayFzPNxnq4SEhC8j3I5yIF9o4zDSZTVfulWI209vd7UkW&shop_param=cid%3D%26 use "JAN15" for 15% off. They are bigger but not by much... That is the ego next to the Kr808d-1 models I linked before it. As you can see it's not much bigger than a superking. More the size of a real cigar. Though, that is 650mah size and the one on sale is 1100mah which will be bigger compared to that again in height, not by width. The ego has to be the single most recommended mid range ecig out there right now as it's a solid performer that's seen a lot of vapers happy and has done for a good year now. If you get the ego on freedomvape I highly recommend you try out some low resistance cartomisers with them: www.vapeescape.co.uk/kanger-510-lr-cartomisers-horizontal-coil-%285%29~225 (use "allabout" for 10% off). They will produce a much better heat and vapour compared to what you're using now and should last just about an entire day on just one battery (and you get two of them!). I really hope that's not total information overload. If you have any more questions anyone would be glad to help you on your way I'm going to have a look and see if I can't find anyone who actually sells the cartomisers for these.

Thank you both for your input and taking the time to go into so much detail to answer my question The one I have now was only a starter kit to make sure that I was making 100% sure I would be happy with not going back to real cigarettes. If I have got something that can only be used with specific cartridges and it is hard to get a decent supply of what I want online, I shall be getting myself a new unit when all of these cartridges have been consumed. Time to go looking on here for some sound purchasing advice (other than that already provided of course )

Sure thing I'm having too hard a time finding anyone who sells those cartomisers anymore so it's probably a good idea to invest in a better ecig. I'm sure Chrissie could tell me where to get rn4081 gear, they know where to get everything

Sorry to contradict but the M40X adapter is NOT the one to use if the VIPs are 4081s. Far as I can recollect the 4081 used to be known as RN4081? The M401, 402 etc are the Intellicig type batteries so it wouldn't be any use at all. In their defence, the 4081 two piece stuff is very straightforward to use for novices and as long as you didn't have to pay too much for it, it's a perfectly good place to start. If you are wanting to get more adventurous Gumball I know a guy local to me who sells 4081 stuff, I'm fairly sure he has blank (empty) cartomisers which can be filled with any liquid you care to try. Come back and say if you want me to put you in touch with him or send me a PM. If you are looking at upgrading a bit but not ready for really big batteries just yet, that Intro Vapour Pro kit from Safercigs Leftfield found is great value. They are KR808D-1 batteries which will last quite a lot longer than 4081s do. They'll also run the Kanger Horizontal Coil cartomisers which work very nicely on them, Safercigs don't do those but Vape Escape do: www.vapeescape.co.uk/kanger-510-sr-cartomisers-horizontal-coil-%285%29~261Well done for taking the plunge and welcome to the forum, Gumball. All best wishes for your journey of discovery!

Makes sense now I think about it, M40x is for M401 - 3 so why would it fit RN4081. I'm not sure if an adapter exists, might do. Thanks for the info, I'm still learning as I go for the super minis, so it was good to look into this. As long as someone knows what they're talking about it it's all good

Hello & welcome Gumball Are you the same Gumball from ebay & the knollers by any chance? Leftfield is right, the VIP is a RN4081 super-mini with cartomisers. And Tetsab is also right, the M40 adapter will not fit it. None of the good UK online suppliers sell cartomisers for the RN4081 & I've also never found an adapter for it. However, both Liberty Flights & Totally Wicked sell the RN4081 (super-mini) atomisers & cartridges. You would do so much better though moving on to a model with better battery life & one that you can easily get supplies for at a good price. If you don't mind an e-cig being more the size of a cigar, go for the eGo/Riva from freedomvape that Leftfield linked to

Good choice going for the Riva - did you order some extra juice as well?
No problem with the name Gumball, I'd just wondered if you were an old friend.

Hi Gumball and welcome. Don't be put off by the size/shape of the Riva/eGo style batteries - they are powerful, should be long-lasting and look nothing like a 'real' cigarette. The latter has the advantage of saving embarrassment when using in public places as it's pretty obviously you're not smoking a cigarette. Enjoy your vaping. Fox

Hello and Welcome Gumball As other members have said the riva type units are so much better as they last most of the day between charges and are very versatile with the 510 connectors. I too like so many started on the mini cigs but tbh you soon get used to the feel of the larger units. At the minute I am vaping on a totem pole like unit but don't mind really for indoors and use the Riva for outdoors/work. Kev
