Lol Perpy, I don't know how I missed your post Ellie, just keep asking as many questions as you want, no matter how daft they may seem to you. That's what we are mainly here for

A warm welcome Ellie, you're on the right forum, you'll get loads of good advice from the experts here, sadly i'm not one of them i'm just Rivers carer.....he's been let out of the home for the day, so i'll leave the advice to those in the know.

Ellie Honestly and truly, the best thing you can do is take the plunge Buy a kit and some juice (flavoured nicotine liquid for refilling), then you will be able to relate to the jargon. Whatever you buy will eventually need replacing, then you'll be more experienced and know how you want to progress - bigger, smaller, "battery-holder mod", whatever. If you buy TWO of these you will have everything you need to get started and keep going, and if you decide you want to stick with it you can buy different flavoured juices and a better filler for the cartridges... but I won't go into that now, because I firmly believe in just getting started > (that's my vehement determined look ). www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/starter-kits/titan/titan-510-compact-kit-just-2499-product.html

they won't be as daft as some of us on here Hello and welcome elliebobs. Yes it is all rather daunting to start with but it will make sense don't worry - check out the threads you have been directed to above and it will start making sense.

Ok Ellie...
I started a week ago today and haven't wanted or had a ciggie since. I am 51 and smoked since my teens.
I bought a Riva 1100 (compared to a cigar size on here) and find it perfectly fine - it is actually smaller in real life than I thought it would be. I have tiny hands too - I am size 2 in shoes!
Lasts me all day at work and well into the evening on one charge to the battery. There are 2 batteries in kit so always one ready as spare.
1100 indicates size and life before needing charging of battery - bigger number = basically the longer lasting.
Instead of atomiser and cartridge (which will come as part of Riva starter set) I went straight to cartomisers which do the job of both of those bits but in one piece. I thought it sounded easier and I find it so in practise.
You fill it (cartomiser) with the juice you want to vape ("smoke"), screw it onto the battery (which looks like a metal tube but has a little bit of weight to it)), stick a mouthpiece (drip tip) on top if you choose to (but it seems most do) and away you go. Simples, it really is. Makes much more sense when it is in front of you, but basically just 3 bits to put together and a teeny bit of filling to do.
Longish battery, smaller cartomiser and drip tip. Cartomiser is about the size of a fountain pen cartridge.
That was enough to get me started and am very happy with it. So much so I have bought a kit for my boss and my Mum, they are so impressed. My son is also using one and 2 more colleagues want to buy.....it is a powerful little device.
I personally wouldn't worry yet about tanks, mods and lots of other terms that certainly confused me at the start.
In MY OPINION ONLY, that was sufficient to get me started and powerful enough to get me off the cigs.
Hope that helps!
Ali x
NB - I may have not got things quite right - names of extra parts you can get and so on: I am NO expert- but just wanted to let you know how straight forward, easy and effective it can be to get a good (recommended by people here) starter kit and it CAN work!

Ali, I think you need to sustitute "Atomiser" for Cartomiser in a couple of places in your (very good) advice just to make it clearer. Just press the modify button at the top of your post and you can edit your post. GREAT advice BTW!

Brilliant post Ali I think you mean you got on better with cartomisers though rather than atomisers?

Hello Ellie and some good advice from Ali, and I agree the Riva is a very good starter kit which most of us start on or very soon upgrade to as the batteries last most of the day before needing a recharge so having a spare in the starter kits is a bonus. Good luck and Welcome. Kev
