Got a really sore throat and not enjoying the vaping at all for the past 24 hours. Thought it might be time to replace the carto even though it's only been a few days.
My new order arrived of SR Boge cartomisers, which I thought were the same as I'd had before but I went back to my old order and I ordered Kangar LR cartos first time round - why did I do that? ??? I've filled one of the Boge's using the condom method and it's spitting, spluttering and kinda making a roaring noise. I'm guessing that's not normal.
I wonder if the LR cartos are too much of a throat hit for me and have given me this raw throat feeling. I've also switched to low nic now (8mg) - perhaps I may have done that too early.
Sorry for the whinge, feeling a bit sorry for myself.

The coughing and spluttering as you put it is quite normal with this type of carto, Boge also do an LR version and boges are about as good as this type of cartomizer gets. I can't comment on the sore throat, maybe you're coming down with a cold or something? Congrats on the 8mg juice though, one day I hope to drop to that level

Hi Mate my dear, (sorry for some reason I thought you were male) Sorry that you're not feeling so good. Remember your body is adjusting, it's not just the nicotine in cigarettes that is addictive. Our bodies get used to all the thousands of other chemicals in tobacco. You NEED to drink plenty of water This will also help cleanse your system. PG has the effect of drying the throat. Maybe you've also picked up a mild cough/cold? Most people get coughs and colds when giving up tobacco, this is normal. If you have it, switch to another liquid to see if the symptoms persist. Carto's can spit and sizzle a bit, it's the liquid boiling off the coil. use a drip tip and make sure you're not overfilling the carto. Keep asking for help here.

It's all a bit of a learning curve, isn't it? I have had an odd spell of not being able to taste anything, overfilling cartos, getting the taste of atomiser primer (yuk)......
Think it's takes time to find what we like. Hang on!

Great advice given Jo . . . it most certainly does take your body time to adjust from switching to vaping from smoking and different people can get a variety symptoms. Quitters flu as it's sometimes called, is one of the more common side effects as your body detoxes . . . plus there are a zillion and one cold lurgies about it seems at present - although I hope it's not that in your case. Stick with it, they do pass.

I never coughed and spluttered with them but just thought they were horrible. Clearos are the way to go for taste, good throat hit and they last a long time.

Awww, thanks guys - reckon it might be the water, definitely need to drink more. Feels a bit better this evening.
Was a bit scared by the carto spitting and hissing at me as the Kangar ones are whisper quiet - getting used to it now. No more sneaking my ecig up to bed though, it is no longer a stealth device :-)
Have got some clearos but I remember Leftfield saying there's something you need to do to them first so will wait until this carto's ready for the bin and spend some time getting it right.
How long do the clearos last, Ken?
Thanks.
Jo

Twas the carto's that were coughing and spluttering Kenny not Blakey or Jo . . . they do make quite a snap, crackle & pop some of them - Boge & DCC's especially. I'm a Clearomizer fan myself, especially in a Arry Tank, have always got on famously with them.

How long do the clearos last, Ken? Thanks. Jo I don't do anything to the clearos Jo and just use them straight out of the box. I generally will get two weeks from one and that's without dry burning or cleaning. Just fill and vape. Some do dry burn and clean however and claim to get months from them. They are cheap to buy so two weeks is good IMO.

The Kangers have the heating coil in the bottom underneath the wadding that's why they're quieter.
The Boge's have them wrapped around the straw like tube that runs through the wadding nearer the top so they can sizzle and spit a bit when first filled. You can get longer drip tips that may help.

I think I'll go back to the Kangers, I can't get used to the constant gurgling and hissing.
I'm stumped with the clearomiser, I can get the rubber bung but I can't get the next bit down out of there for the life of me. Why don't they make these things easier to use or at least give you tools that can remove bits. Have broken paper clips, needles and feel like I've damaged the coil that's showing through the hole. Also, can you just stick the needle tip onto your juice bottle as it didn't come with a syringe. Argh!!!

Have you a fine(ish) crochet hook by any chance Jo, they're the easiest tools I find for bung removal on clearos/cartos.
