Got a DNA40 board this morning, the latest with larger screen. My experience of making a mod = 0. My research thus far about 10minutes just now reading a few threads here! Heard talk of a fat daddy 510 and just had a look at modmaker at boxes and switches. What I do, I'm a draughtsman by trade, mechanical bias, electrical/electronics I don't understand, I don't have know how it does it, just what it does, where it needs to go and that it fits. My manual skills, I can solder and fix things, most recent in relation to building a vaping mod would be replacing my boys iphone screen yet again..! and putting a new board in the boiler which I know to be typical if totally dead with power and without fault codes. My skills with cutting metal and shaping wood are limited to cutting copper pipe for plumbing and hanging a door, so the latter and electrics I may we'll need advice on. I can get advice from engineers at work but I'll have to start with telling them what vaping is and what i need it to do first, so advice and experience here will be better...! My tools and workshop, well my workshop is my dining room table, my old workshop is now called a gym and the ex wife ownes that..! My tools are limited as most are in storage, pillar drill, bench grinder etc. Pretty sure I have my soldering iron and dremmel in the shed. Can also pop round friends and use there's and do have access to any tooling I want but I'll get back to that. Now what to put it in. 3 donors i have picked. remember I need to research so these might be a no go from the start, Need to look at the wiring schematic which I assume to be on the web because nothing in the box. hence this thread of what i need to research, what way I'm going and what I need to buy. Hana; I see this as the easiest, just pull the guts out replace with DNA, hope it comes alive and if is blows up in the future iv had some fun. the ZNA, IMHO is a good looking mod, this looks like it could be tight and it works fine, it also has character, it lights up sometimes all by itself when it wants to be vaped..! don't want to kill it with my lack of experience . the slug, love these things, have 3. It's the only clone I own I almost feel guilty about! love the design. Will Need to make room and want to use the trigger switch. Have had one apart before to have a nose and the wood can be chipped back and possibly shortened with some pillar posts for room at the bottom. Happy to drop battery size too. Also theres the boxes I have just been looking at on mod maker, is there any other places like this? no donor start from scratch. Thinking nice big one, loads of room, and wireless charging ie a micro USB phone receiver. The final option is to buy 510 connector, the switches, battery holder etc, measure it all design a mod in CAD then get it professionally made, this will be a favour that could get called back at any time, typically when I'm busy and stressed which I always am. im leaning towards buying all the bits from the like of the mod shops and building a mod for scratch, no help other than advice, no doners, rough cuts, dodgy paint job but least made it totally myself. Bloody hell thats thats a long post, can't be bothered checking grammar or spelling and I'm bet the iPads made some words up for me but think your get the jest of it. what you reckon?

I would go for the hana as there's plenty of info around regarding moding that box. And if it all goes t@ts up you haven't sacrificed a good looking mod. Also more room to work with. Or failing that you could just sell the chip to me

ZNA won't work due to the size of the big screen Also same goes with the slots cut out for the other 2 mods, you'd need to make the slots bigger for the big screen

Power it up & test it before snipping the sides or soldering just in case. As you said the Hana is the easiest, -V- recently put one (small screen) in a ZNA clone and has a build thread here, but I have not seen the inside of a slug and don't know if it will fit. Custom made box would be best as you will have a one off that you will love, Evolv have the 3D models on their site for download. If you fancied building a wooden squonker these look like a bargain and if you don't like it geordie_vaper would probably snap it up, mod maker have FD squonking 510 kits. Take your time and good luck.

Does say you need to get better wire and switches but box is good. Maybe an option if you decide to go DIY. Box OOS at the mo though.

If you replace a DNA30 don't forget to replace the battery and 510 wire with 18 AWG preferably silicon insulated.

The DNA30/40 box at Stealth has sold out. I managed to get one last week, the out and battery+ wires are way too big for the board. It is for the small screen version. Looking at the box it's just like the Hana clone from fastteck with the board cradle added. Hope that helps

The couple of threads I've seen on fitting real DNAs to clone ZNAs blakey they don't fit out of the box, the plastic retainer has to be trimmed in a few places and fire button shimmed, so I reckon the Hana is easier even though you have more wires to solder.

I watched dave dorn change one out in minutes on the ZNA & with minimum faff 50mins in

He had a better clone then blakey, I see he remembered to remove the screen protector this time, he left it on on the first on he did. The soldering is awful, I love DD, but he can't even tin the wire (put the solder on the work piece not the iron tip), anyone one doing one solder the wire through the holes on the circuit board, if it was a 30 W replace the wire with 28 awg and take care pushing the screen in they are easy to snap. Anyway neither are hard.

Could drill/tap the top out and put in a fat daddy then putting a 500 or even a 350 battery in the copper holder will gain space below and there is plenty of internal wood that could be removed too, reinforced with a steel bar if the need be. The trigger switch should still work, negative soldered to the copper holder and a copper strip for the postive clamped via slots above between the wood sleeves, drop a spring in the holder. Might have to shorten the throw of the trigger though. Saying all that above I still have not done any reaseach so still unsure exactly what I need to fit in, so no doubt youre right..! That's why I put all that waffle on my first post have spent 20years sorting problems on paper working out what can or not be done, especially spatial. I don't do it practically though so I'll prob cut too much go through the wood and short the whole lot out..ha ha. I'll open up the hana tonight to see exacly what I need to fit in what ever I decide. That plastic piece hiding all board etc is it glued? credit card and hairdryer?
