10 watts at 420F setting 0.13coil
20w at 420F setting 0.13coil
20watts@ 480F 0.13 coil Some scope traces showing a virtually dry coil with different settings. The last jagged section of each pic is the temp protection coming in (coil very dry)

ok, so it jumps up and down when coil its dry but can you tell how fast it jump or how many in time? i mean via this we can get frequency of chip, like i see somewhere that real dna40 do 670 times checking resistance per 1s.
or i telling bullshit?

robby, can you explain what the trace`s mean...are they good or bad? What are they showing before the point of dry coil.

they are good, because in our words bump and down volts, bump if coil are cooler than set F and down if it reach setted F, so its proper temp limit

Is there an initial high power boost at the start of the trace?

Greigster Okay, the initial spike is pre heat, then it heats the coil, with the smooth rise up until one and a half seconds or so (one and a half squares), then you see the temperature protection coming in to stop the coil overheating till the end of the trace. Peaking about 12 times a second when it cuts the voltage and switches it back on again. (For the bottom pic) ish

There`s a whole lot more going on, but that is the basics Because there is little liquid to cool the coil the temperature rises as it dries up causing the coil to rise in temperature and resistance. The higher resistance needs to be reduce so the power is switched off to allow the coil to cool a little thereby allowing the voltage to be switched back on again until the cycle is repeated about a dozen times a second.

If the coil had been fully saturated all the time as just after topping up the dripper or in the case of a tank, then the trace would be a fairly straight line all the way across the screen after preheat, until it started to dry up and cause the coil to become hotter. When the coil gets to the temperature set then the temperature control/protection kicks in.

so it means KX-40D 12times per second check resistance dna40 670times per second check resistance.
i think i can live with 12t/s as whole vaporflask cost the price of only dna40 board.

A fully saturated wick on the dripper at the same settings as the last pic. The trace would be similar when firing a tank.
