The pic in the OP the mod is upside down you can see the - symbol, the burning was at the negative end you can see the + & - symbols clearly in the pic I posted from the Barsardo review ans the soot is at the negative end of the battery.

Looks fine to me thejester. The scorch on the battery is toward the negative end, which would be to the negative terminal when inserted correctly thumb up

If the battery had been inserted the wrong way round the scorching would be to the +ve end.

i know the mod is upside down bud but if the battery was in the way its depicted in the pic then thats the pos end next to the neg end ?

With my very limited experience with batteries, the scorch marks to the battery align with the damage to the unit, which would suggest that the battery was incorrectly fitted, therefore the question of the internal protection, is this over-ridden whilst being charged or maybe the protection is not part of the charging circuit?

now i look at the soot it does make sense but why lay the battery that way next to the mod, only leads to assumptions thats all....so yeah looks like i got it wrong but you see my point?

The mod id the wrong way up and the battery is the right way up in the pic in the OP or the soot would be on the other end of the battery.

in my opinion unless it was plugged in to a usb 3 slot this should not of happened
usb 2 is 500mah and will not go above that
to me this has prob been left on charge over night on a 1amp or above supply and when the batt was full the mod started to heat up till lepoof

If you overcharged the battery overnight it would vent and the battery looks OK in the pic and the damage appears to be from the board.

thats what i mean there is something not right with the board if it cant stop the chargeing with out going pop
