thats what i mean there is something not right with the board if it cant stop the chargeing with out going pop 

Maybe the charging chip overheated, but overcharging for a long period the chemical reaction in the battery will go critical so it must have happened before.

We don't know if the battery was still charging or whether it had stopped. There's no way to find out other than to test the battery voltage and make an assumption. The damage has occured further up the board, away from the charging section so must be unrelated.

Would have been nice to have the details inc what voltage the battery was when it happened as you can tell what sort of current the charge should have been providing and if it had been overcharged.

Its close to the USB socket and I would expect the charger to be near there.

I don't think it was, look at the non-existent power+ button. If it did that damage then I has to be located v close to the button. Also if you look at the scorching to the edge of the pcb it's away from the usb.

The abscense of that button could just as easily be interpreted another way. User lost his rag with a function not working, and pressed so hard on the button it collapsed onto the circuit board shorting a couple of tracks. That caused the fire, and he removed what was left of the button after the fact to hide his guilt.

But I don't like to think that.

Yep, can clearly see in that pic the source of the heat is away from the usb. Look at the scorching on the pcb.

If I was an artist I could put a nice bright ring to mark what I'm on about.

got mine yesterday from pure mist......its sat here now on arm of sofa and not 5 mins since said 'fully charged' on the screen, now unplugged and vaping like a good un......we all need to be careful but leaving overnight has always been a no no anyway
