Ripshod looks like a couple of ICs there. What's that black mark on the block to the left of those ICs? Could just be a little bit of fluff. But yes, I suspect those ICs are closest to the source.

Large dark grey rectangle in the middle of the pic is the big inductor they all have.
E: Let's not forget that it the guys laptop was connected to the mains the 0 V on the USB would be mains ground and a spike on that could damage it.

Just faulty electronics that blew and not the battery which would be much worse. Normally the charging chip is near the UBS so it's anyone's guess what actually blew, when I eventually get mine I will test if it draws more current form USB than it should. IMO Everyone buying cheap USB cahrging kit should get a USB metre or Charge Doctor. 4.92v 0.45A - my Charge Doctor just arrived so tested mine using a Desktop Computer

I'm gonna buy one of these Cloupors and strip it right down, just to satisfy my curiosity...... and to vape it of course

I still have one in the endless que at FT, unless proven to be an issue with all models, I'll still go for it as I always remove the battery.

Looks like this mod is selling like hot cakes so if there is a fault on the board it will hopefully come to light quick enough.

Number 2 melts down Just read this on another FB page, this time the woman wasn't charging it But same kind of area as the first one I just vaped mine with the back cover off and that area does get warm after vaoing "My 4 day old cloupor mini decided to SMOKE itself this morn!"Question: Were you charging it when this happened? "no, I had a taken a hit from it and sat it down, then looked over and it was maybe 30sec later Smoking ... Picked it up and it the magnet was so HOT, so glad I could back get the battery out. really fast, the inside looked like it was glowing"

That kinda debunks the 'whilst charging' theory. Problem now is there's more than one identical fault, exact same spot, exact same side of the board. Cloupor can't ignore this now. -V-, I'd have liked your post, just it's bad news so tagged instead. ETA: Do these have batch numbers? Or will it be a total recall?

Keep an eye out -V- to see if she posts a pic with the cover off. Looks a bit to the left of the up switch where those small chips/packages are, maybe power regulators.

Hmmm, not looking good is it? Two with a very similar fault, and one was not even being charged at the time! I may be jumping the gun, but to me it looks like some form of inherent design fault or component that's not up to the job?

My order was still marked 'processing' - I've emailed and asked them to put it on hold, not cancelling til we know more.

I've been using mine almost exclusively for a few weeks now, and I've been checking for any heat quite obsessively for the last couple of days. Mine doesn't seem to be getting even remotely warm. Do we know what batteries these 2 incidents were using and if they had been pushing the mod near to it's limits?
