Why do some vapers use high watts? I've looked at ohm/watt charts that say optimal vape at a certain setting. So why don't high wattage vapers cook the coil or get burnt taste?

They're using micro coils/ special coils, as well as sub ohms . . . are trends that have more or less passed me by bowg68. Maybe I'm easily pleased ( my ex's would disagree with that statement ) but I'm quite happy with a regular 1.8ish coil at around 8 watts. Each to their own though.

Different coil, wick and atty combinations vary greatly in what power they like, my ADV is a dual steel wick genesis and under 20 W is pointless, 25 - 40 W gives a lovely dense flavourful vape. But I run cotton wick tanks like the Kayfun or Orchid more around 15 W as the wicking and airflow can struggle or the vape it too hot.

sub ohm is best when your using a mech mod to chase clouds high watts is when your doing it with a regulated mod and normally coils over 1ohm (bigger surface aria)to get good clouds most peps will stay under 30 watts with a rta(atty with a tank)and go mental if they use a dripper(me included )

Flavour - that's my excuse. During the day I vape around 14watts, and I enjoy it. But for those last few hours in the evening I love my fogger @ 40watts. I compare it to smoking ciggies during the day, then a couple of cigars to finish the day off. That Condor moment ETA: So long as the wicking is good enough the juice flow, and the airflow, will keep the coil/s within a range where they produce masses of vapour without cooking the juice or burning anything.

Why do some vapers use high watts? I've looked at ohm/watt charts that say optimal vape at a certain setting. So why don't high wattage vapers cook the coil or get burnt taste? That's down to the resistance of the wire used. A 2.0ohm coil made from 0.25mm wire would vape quite nicely at 8 -10w Thin wire has a high resistance so doesn't require much power to heat it up. A 1.0ohm coil made with 0.4mm wire would vape well at 20w+ Thick wire has low resistance so requires more power to heat it up. So it's not just a case of using high watts in any coil, rather choosing a coil that requires high watts. Why do that? the 1ohm coil in the example would have over twice the surface area of the 2.0ohm one, more juice vaporising means more flavour.

I've been at this for 2.5 years.....and I don't get watts at all. I prefer mine on 4.8 vv...have tried it on watts but don't get the hype...am I missing something?

I am currently vaping anywhere between 20w and 30w on my Vs Rdna with Lemo at .19 ohm, using Ni200 wire, with the temperature limiting I get a smoother vape which changes depending on wattage, and temperature, ie I'll switch from vaping at 400f and try at 410f and will again notice a change in the flavour, I will also change the wattage to find the sweet spot for each juice.

I should have said before I would vape anywhere between 8w and 14w on a IPV2, and occasionally up to 20w on a Kayfun lite, but this would be dependent on liquid, and would usually end up burning the wick.

Watts doesn't change the vape, it just auto adjusts the volts for different resistance coils to give the same amount of heating power. If you only use 1 resistance there is no benefit.

Ahhh now I get it....I do tend to stick to one resistance, so that is now fully understood. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
