My son who has type 2 diabetes just phoned and said he may have to quit vaping as he spiked at 22 this morning. Is there any way he can counter this apart from losing the vg in his mixes?

I have type 2 diabetes and it has never crossed my mind that vaping in any way made any difference to mine.

Whilst glycerine is a dehydrating agent, that apparently can cause hyperglycaemia and glycosuria in consumers with diabetes, I would have thought that the amount of glycerine consumed through normal vaping wouldn't make much difference?

Been doing a bit of reading as I wondered if the ethyl maltol in some juices might have been doing this. Came across this post on UKV ukvapers.org/Thread-Ethyl-Maltol-Diabetes-Stevia-Leaf-ExtractMaybe if he is vaping a sweet juice like banana, blueberry, custard etc its fooling his pancreas odd concept I know but apparently the pancreas analyses blood by taste (essentially anyway) so sweet liquid even though no sugar might throw his levels off. Maybe try some anise or menthol juices see if that helps.

What makes you think that it is vaping that caused the spike Ron ? Blownupdolly can you help this at all hun ? Hi Ron Has a doctor told your son it is due to vaping? I ask because I have never heard of vaping causing glucose spikes. I have been Type 1 diabetic for 25yrs I inject twice daily. I have not noticed any fluctuations in my blood sugar readings at all. I would suggest a visit to the doc or the diabetic nurse at his surgery. There could be all sorts of reasons for it. I personally doubt vaping is one of them. Hope he gets sorted soon. Nothing worse than high readings. Makes me so lethargic.
