By now this is probably already widespread public knowledge but I am posting this anyway to save others from making the same mistake.
I actually made the mistake of ordering this unit about the same date and time you started this thread. It made it out of China just before all shipping shut down for CNY and was received at my door on 2/18/15. Due to other responsibilities, a lot of bad weather, and a delayed delivery of NI200, I never even opened the package until 3/7/15.
The box looked like it was built well, had a fixed 510 center pin, and seemed to operate well in Kanthal mode although it tried to operate in Temperature Protection mode with Kanthal Builds unless you turned off Temperature Protection by raising the set point above 600 degrees. The unit goes into SLEEP MODE after approximately 2 minutes without pressing any buttons. When pressing fire button in Sleep Mode there is a Very Annoying 3 Second Delay where it displays HANA MODS before the unit will wake and fire. In WAKE mode there is approximately a 1 second delay after pressing fire button before the atomizer will fire.
Ater trying a few NI200 Builds it has been determined that this unit simply does not work at all in Temperature Control Mode. NI200 Builds between .1ohm and .29ohm display CHECK ATOMIZER. NI200 Builds between .3ohm and 1ohm display TEMPERATURE PROTECTION and the atomizer does not fire at all.
ONLINE HELP DESK CHATS at Cigabuy will not accept your word that the unit is defective and force you to fill in Customer Service Help Desk defective item return email requests suggesting you attach Pics and or video to fully describe problem despite the only two reviews regarding the product on their own site complain of exact same problem. A posting of my review to the product page was never posted and still is not displayed after 24 Hours.
Bottom line is that this Hana DNA 40 Temperature Controlled APV Mod is defective, not as advertised, and DOES NOT WORK IN TEMPERATURE CONTROL MODE AT ALL. CIGABUY HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO DISCONTINUE SELLING THIS PRODUCT AND IMMEDIATELY REMOVE IT FROM THEIR WEBSITE UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE UNITS CAN BE QUALITY CONTROL TESTED AS OPERATIONAL AND RELIABLE FOR SALE!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - STAY AWAY AND DO NOT ORDER THIS UNIT FROM CIGABUY! IT IS DEFECTIVE!

Just an update:
Tiny Deal Direct Contacted me and Forced me to submit videos of the Defective Hana DNA 40 TC Mod for their Technical Service Department before they could process my Defective Item Request.
Four days after I submitted my review comments to their product page my review comments are still not displayed on their website.

I have one of these bought around the same time as you. Same problems, and have given up with the temp control side of things. It doesn't work, or at least I can't make it work. One thing it isn't is a DNA40. But it works fine in non temp mode. I think the answer for this unit is to swap out the chip with a real DNA40 from Evolve. More expense, but at least it will work.

My answer is to threaten to malign them on every message board around the world warning others not to do business with them on this product. I will do so until they relent and provide a full refund because if we all just accept a bad unit without doing so they will continue selling a known bad unit to others and that is wrong. We have to make it not financially viable for them to do so or they will continue the practice.
So please fill out a return request ticket and break their chops & make them refund you as well!

I have a couple of these on order from Cigabuy, if they are the ones which say Smocare when you wake them up then yeah the temp control is a waste of time, i had one of the same from 3fvape and the temp control was screwed up. I don't have any plans to use these for temp control so no big deal to me but if people are buying them for temp control i would say don't bother just buy a device with a genuine evolv board. I'm not going to be using Cigabuy again though purely because of their service. I placed my order at the very beginning of February and they only just marked it as shipped a couple of days ago. I realise they were closed for the CNY holiday but i ordered well before that and the holiday ended a couple of weeks ago, it shouldn't take that long to process an order plus the shipping costs were like $17 so screw them.

This displays HANA MODZ on Waking & I can tell you that 3 sec delay & 2 min sleep mode alone makes this a mod I don't want. My Kangxin Vapor Flask is like a dream compared to this POS. I though about keeping it but simple fact is that if there were enough complaints that forced refunds and reverse shipping reimbursements they might have discontinued selling them before your order was shipped and spared you the ordeal of buying units that don't work properly.
As far as 3FVape is concerned I would tell them if you are having a problem with their unit. One guy had the non USB version of the Kangxin flask and it was only drawing power from one battery and they sent him a new unit and told him to keep the old one for his inconvenience.
I heard of a few people who got the Hana from 3FVape who said theirs was working well in TC mode, I just never realized they were the Smocare versions that locked in fire mode & had all the screen scrambles. Someone on ECF said they worked out most of those issues with the Smocares, but I notice that 3FVape does not seem to be restocking them very quickly after they all sold out.
I still think we owe it to everyone who comes after us to force Cigabuy to lose money on each bad unit they sell because it is their business model to charge each person $10 extra for a box that says dna40 but does not work counting on our complacency to accept the loss because it will cost us more to mail it back than it is worth & at least if we keep it we have a kanthal working unit we only overpaid for by $10.
I do not feel we are doing the community any favors by doing exactly what they are counting on us to do.

Mine says Hanamodz on waking, and does take about 3 seconds to wake, but seems to fire straight away. The short wake time is a bit annoying as I tend to grab the unit press fire and draw, only to get nothing. I use it with the temp mode switched off, otherwise it shows temperature locked if you crank it up on a .5 ohm coil. Turned off it works fine, and I can crank it up to 40w with my Subohm mini. With resulting fog. My intention is to swap out the board in the fullness of time, but it certainly isn't a DNA40 as it is, and does not work in the same way, but changed it should be a nice unit, and with a bit of luck will just be a matter of swapping the board and a bit of soldering. It doesn't stop dry burning no matter what temperature you set, so that aspect is a major fail.

I have a second one from 3fvape, i had ordered one of their Vapor Shark clones but the date kept getting pushed back so i got them to send me a Hana clone instead, well anyway either 3fvape or whoever their supplier is must have changed board suppliers because the second one didn't say Smocare on waking it just says Hello. I have no idea how it works in TC mode because i haven't bothered trying it in TC mode. Also they told me the reason they kept putting the dates back on the Vapor Shark clones was because there was only one factory producing them and they had rejected delivery on orders because of issues with the TC function on the units and they were waiting for the factory to supply a fresh batch with the issues fixed. So i have to give kudos to 3fvape they clearly aren't happy with sending any old junk out of the door. Maybe they got lots of complaints about the Smocare chips in the Hana clones and that prompted them to use different boards for the Hana clones and check more thoroughly incoming orders of other TC units. I can say for sure that when i dealt with their customer service dept they were quick and more than happy to resolve my issue without any quibbling. I've also not had any of this nonsense of taking 2-3 weeks to "process" an order of items that are supposedly in stock from 3fvape like i've had with Cigabuy.
