Right, I have been lurking on here for a couple of days reading through the threads because I wanted to get opinions on what e-cig I should go for. Now I feel it is time to reveal my trousers in all their glory. Yes. I've been seriously considering trying to make the switch to an e-cig for some time, mainly due to health (sick of coughing and having a manky chest) and also because real cigs are so horrendously expensive these days and I really want to save some money. I've tried quitting completely approximately 847 times without success. At first I went on Google and just did a few searches, thinking all e-cigs were pretty much the same. Well SPANK MY MONKEY, how wrong I was. Battery life, atomizers, cartomizers, cartridges, liquids, automatic or manual, it all started to do my head in quite considerably. Anyway, after reading through the threads on here I am now a bit wiser and have pretty much decided on a Riva 1100 kit from Vape Escape, in fact THIS: www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-riva-1100-deluxe-kit~151There is a place doing a similar kit for cheaper, but they are sold out and I want one now this very moment. I see there is a discount code on here for Vape Escape so that will save me a few quid. I think I will try a small bottle of their "Winson" liquid just to check things out, and then worry about ordering more / spares when I've got to grips with it a bit. EAURGH!!! I hope I am doing the right thing.

Hi Honkey and welcome I'll let others help on the right or wrong bit, because I could be seen to be slightly biased But, if you decide to order and want the atomisers and cartridges swapping for cartomisers (which seems to be a very popular option at the moment), just add a note when you checkout.

Oh you are the Vape Escape bloke then? Nice one. Your deal on those is pretty good, I've seen similar kits a lot more expensive elsewhere, even with less powerful batteries. I think I probably will take you up on the cartomiser offer, as from what I've read on here they seem to be better and less hassle.

Atomisers and cartridges are great for testing flavours out and for those times when you can laze around and top up frequently. But, cartomisers provide a better long term solution IMO. You can also have a bit of both if you prefer - 1 Atty, empty cartridges and 1 pack of cartomisers. There's lots of help on the forum and a section full of pics and vids if you need to get a bit more info.

hi honkey.
our situations are almost identical. i lurked for a couple of days and asked a few questions. then settled on same kit, from jason. i was expecting it to arrive today, and couldnt wait to get home from work and open the box. but sadly it wasnt here. hopefully tomorrow!
good luck with it, and even though i know hardly anything about whats what, there are loads on here who can answer virtually any question you throw at them.
hopefully catch you on the boards again soon.

That's a pity Brian, they've not been bad so far this week Royal Mail, but I suppose it couldn't last.
Fingers crossed you get it tomorrow.

Huurrm, yeah the empty cartridges that come with it won't be much good to me if I get cartomisers instead will they? Still a bit confused on some things but ah I'll get there. It will be interesting to see how much use I can get from a cartomiser as I'm quite a heavy smoker, about 30 a day usually. The cost is crippling. Tried switching to rollies but I HATE them.

I get around 3 days out of a cartomiser before I bin it.
On the first fill, you'll get a good few hours out of it. After that you'll need to top it up more often.
Some get a week+ out of a cartomiser, but at the end of the day it's what you're satisfied with yourself. I don't like to sacrifice the quality of vape so probably bin them a bit sooner than others would.

Hello & a warm welcome from me Honkey! You've made a great decision there with your Riva, Jason is a top Supplier as well to deal with, as indeed are all the Supplier's on the forum. Any questions when you get your kit, then ask away, we love questions! I was a 40/50 a day cigarette smoker, coming up to two years ciggie free now . . . I loved to smoke, never wanted to give up . . . but if I can make the switch, then I'm sure you'll be able to as well. Good luck & keep us posted!

I have one quick question: How many refills / top-ups will a cartomiser usually last before you have to chuck it and start a new one?

I'm getting to the point now where I don't even kid myself that I still enjoy smoking... a few per day maybe, like first one in the morning, or when having a beer, the rest of the time it's just an automatic thing to relieve nicotine craving. Maybe one day I'll be able to quit completely, who knows.
