Anyone own a dishwasher?

My kitchen is getting renewed and I have decided to include a slimline dishwasher. Never had one before and it has to be slimline as my kitchen is quite small.

I don't want anything amazing as there is only 2 of us in the house, but could do with some ideas of what to look for ect.

Don't worry about lots of settings as you end up just filling them through the day and using the same setting every time.

Dont go for a cheap make, they break very quickly. We made that mistake and then got a hotpoint, been as good as gold and is quiet too.

Don't listen to archiecat a dishwasher is a must. There are quite a few about now. We have a normal one and use it every day. I agree about the settings. We only use 2.

No seriously we have a hotpoint Aquarius. Not a slimline one but it does the job well.
I do remember that the Bosch ones are supposed to be pretty good.
Avoid beko like the plague.

Are you looking for freestanding or integrated?

I have decided to leave washing up by hand behind and become a lazy bones lol. In all seriousness, I suffer with sensitive skin and washing up liquid (whatever the brand) really effects the skin on my hands. Can't stand rubber gloves on either, so have bitten the bullet and choose a dishwasher instead. Just haven't got a clue what I'm looking for.

A freestanding one. My kitchen has already been measured up and is getting fitted back end of Feb. I live in a social housing property, so don't have much say on the kitchen. Was surprised they agreed to plumb in a dishwasher.

We have bought a couple of Bosch washing machines ( for different locations ) and are really pleased with them, they make good stuff, and not silly prices.

I've recently bought a new dishwasher due to my old one conking out, it was around 11 years old, poor 'ol thing.

My new one is a Becken, full size one, and is absolutely wonderful. It's an electronic one with a panel that lights up like a spaceship but is sooooo easy to use it's unbelievable. I've noticed how much quieter they are these days too.

Oh and there's only the 2 of us in the house as well, but it seems to go on almost every day - once you cook the dinner using pots & pans it don't take long to fill it up, and that's the full size dishwasher
