To me, SMOK were takin the pish, everybody was clamoring for a TC mod and they jumped on the bandwagon. Their firmware update didn`t get near to fixing it. They did have something to fix with the inexplicable ramp up time when it was launched AND sold to vendors who have also been cheated and caused a lot of extra work and hassle. So how do you sell something that you have made by the thousand and get your costs back. You reduce the price so that it is an unbelievable bargain, which this was. There really has not been a bargain like it before (if it actually worked) and nothing since. It was actually at the very same price as the lower powered M60. But the M80 also had temp control (not). I would have expected it to be $30 more. It would still have been a bargain and sold well. Look at it this way, you have just released an M60 mod that is selling pretty well. You produce a higher powered M80 mod with a great battery. Do you put another 10 or 20 dollars on the price? Of course you do. None of it makes any sense at all unless there is more behind it. Me? I dont like being conned.

Perhaps I've got rose tinted glasses but I really believe that Smok WILL sort out the problem, and if alex05 is true to his word that the deal we have been promised WILL happen then I'm prepared to wait, I fully expect Smok to get their act together (and put up the price) eventually, this is going to be one of those order, forget & HOPE deals for me

Unfortunately they think it`s sorted now, it simply should not have been released as it was.

I'm not convinced they think it's sorted, hence the delay in production. Which is clearly a bit more than changing the software in the chips. I still have my order in, and hope they can fix it, but I fully expect SMOK to pull the plug on this one, probably in a months time after the furor has died down. They will not be the manufacturers of the chip, and there lies the problem. The chip maker needs to fix it first before Smok can put it into the unit. So if the chip maker goes belly up, then so do Smok. But I live in hope.

Information from Smoktech states that the release date for the XPro M80 has been delayed due to temperature control malfunctions within the chip. ETA for this product is late March or even next month. Smok is trying to resolve this issue. We have no control over the manufacture and we apologize for the inconvenience. If you do not wish to wait for this item and would like to cancel your pre order, please PM me.

I haven`t seen it anywhere else on the web that Smok are blaming the chip. I suspect all they ever had was a board temp control chip from the way the mod has performed and behaved (also because any wire can be used) Is it a malfunction, or a crazy choice of electronics and then burying their heads in the sand when they realised it couldn`t do what they thought it could do.

I tend to agree with you robby, but what I think is happening now is that they have realised that they have messed up royally with this and are now trying to figure out how to actually achieve what they have advertised. I suspect they have been conned by their chip manufacturer. It would be interesting to compare the chip in my clone Hana which is supposed to be a DNA 40 clone, and the one in the M80. Both seem to perform in a similar way other than the ramp up from what people say. My Hana seems to control the temp by just shutting down the unit rather than varying the wattage to suit. But what concerns me is that as Smok try to save face over this, is that they will have to concede defeat and pull the plug on what should be a great unit. Or may motivate them to come up with a stunner. I guess only time will tell. But I think there a few red faces in China right now. And face is everything to them.

It`s very hard to get away from the fact that they must have tested them before selling them on to vendors who have also gone through the mill with this. When I think of the price asked for them it reminds me of the old adage "If it seems to good to be true, then it probably is"

I am actually quite liking the bravery of alex05 , he has promised that I will receive what I have paid for, and that it will do as advertised.

Knowing how important keeping face is I HAVE to trust him, I'm prepared to wait, happy in the knowledge that he is convinced that the errors WILL be put right

I'm with you Q in the waiting list for one of these. I originally had one ordered via Cigabuy, but cancelled in the belief I would put myself further down the pre order list and reordered from alex05 at Evkoo. It's not Alex we need to trust though, it's Smok we all need to trust. He is at their mercy and can only bow his head in shame on their behalf if they fail. Although I will expect a hamper of free gifts in compensation if it fails AGAIN. So no pressure Alex.

I canceled mine a purchased a nemisis clone for about tenner, it does temp control about as good as smoks offering...

I actually like my 40 watt Hana clone DNA40. It may be crap at temperature but as a 40 watt mod it's great.
