Joules are like kilowatt-hours only smaller (watt-seconds) robby and Joules are not a measure either temperature or power, but my objection is that people have found the DNA40 confusing and add a nonsensical unit of measurement to the mix will just add to the confusion KISS.

I suppose they are just looking for a way round the Evolve stranglehold. Should still work though? Presumably the joules value will rise as the coil temp goes up and the board will take action to reduce the value to the set norm.

I think that is the reason, Joules would make sense for a usage counter (they like their puff counters in the far east), but for what I can glean from the videos they have just swapped it for watts in temp mode, but I could be wrong. It's just unnecessarily confusing .

Mine arrived today, flippin' 'eck you need a degree to work the bugger Finally fathomed how to unlock it (thought it was stuck on 61w, the setting when it powered up) I have now set the time & date (never had THAT before) Adjusted the watts to a more reasonable 35w, stuck the Rose on to try it out.... and its pretty good, I quite like it, bigger than I was expecting, but fits the hand quite well. I may never get around to try the temp control but as a vw mod it's rather good for the money

Just press a tiny screwdriver in the reset hole for a few seconds Q It also charges at 2 amps, so if you have a 2 amp charger it halves the charging time

I don't know what's going on, but just got mine charged up and running. At first it was set to wattage and at 61watts. I put on my Lemo drop with kanthal and it blew up the liquid. I mean mega pop. The coil is at about 1.2 ohm. So turned it down a tad to 35w. Vaped fine. So thought I would have a play and swapped it to my subohm with .5ohm coil and changed over to temp. Still at 35 watts. Temp seemed to be set at 200F, and I have yet to figure out how to change that, but that is bye the bye. Hardly any vapour and like breathing fresh air. So cranked it up to 50w. More normal vapour but still very cool draw. Nothing like the subohm on my 30w istick at 15watts. Now I know 200F is cool, about 93c, but this is a kanthal coil not ni. I can take a nice long direct inhale and as cool as a daisy. Perhaps someone can tell me whats going on here? The temp control is not supposed to work period on this, but something is keeping the temp down. I just cranked it up to 75 watts, and still blowing cool. So now raised the temp to 350F. Great clouds and a little crackling. I don't pretend to know what is going on, but something in this box of tricks is keeping the temp down. And I have to say with the subohm tank it's brill. Any ideas robby?

It is guessing what the coil temp is I think. It doesn`t seem to be able to tell the difference between kanthal and nickel. I got better results on nickel with the mod in TC mode. I would put the temp control higher than you would think it would be on kanthal and have another suck EDIT .............................. have you taken it out of temp mode in option 1 of the settings Bobsbeer ?

Increased the temp to 400F and there is a difference. More vapour and crackel. Kept the watts to 55 then 75. No difference in the vapour or crackel. You are probably right robby this thing does not know what temperature it is, but it is limiting it somehow. Of course the tank has plenty of juice, so not trying to detect a dry hit. But in terms of normal vaping and normal use it does seem to provide better control than a vw device. Although I see no point in vaping at 75w just for the sake of it. So dropped it down to 50 again.
