Coil wraps?

If you twist the 0.25 together you can easily lower the ohms and number of wraps to achieve 1ohm(ish). Use an electric drill for ease of twisting the kanthal. Youtube is the place to look





Maybe that is your solution?

This might be somewhere near for a single coil of .25 twisted 8 wraps.

Steam engine relatively easy to use
2 mm, 5/6 wraps duel should get you there.
Or look into twisting your kanrhel.
Think that would work out to 28/26 gauge?
I may be slightly out on the numbers but you get lower resistance by twisting
