Could someone please give me some advice on this as its doin my head in!! I have a kanger mini & a delta 2 which I rebuild on. But anytime I use kanthal thicker than 25mm I either get dry hits and lots or popping sounds or it tastes funky (a bit burnt). It's mostly 4mm wire 3mm diameter and 5-6 wraps with Japanese cotton. I could stick with the 25mm coils. But can't go above 11 watts or it tastes burnt
Thanks in advance

I suspect your jap cotton is too loose and your tasting the wire as not enough contact between coil and wick. The other less likely option is your wich is too tight restricting juice flow to the coil.

For the sub tank have a look in the guided section for a detailed step by step coil and wicking set up.

Could be too much maybe.

what's the resistence of your coil? Usually round 0.8 - 0.9 ohms

I have found with .4mm kanthal I have to build around .6 ohm or below otherwise I get dry and nasty hits. I have tried different amounts of cotton and have yet to succeed at anything above .6 ohm
I am actually struggling to get a decent build on the rba deck at all to be honest but will keep trying. They all work to start with then make everything taste funky after half hour or so.

Never owned a delta 2 but have been perplexed with burnt hits on other low build RTAs. Penny finally dropped that it is the leads/legs getting hot before the coils giving the burnt taste. Legs/leads best to be under the coil or if have to run over the top they need a small amount of cotton from the wick draped over them to keep them wet. May not be the best way but just the way I have got round it.
