www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles D12 hatched today - there's a link on the site to a time lapsed Pip to Hatch YT video. There's also a note on the site that D1 has returned to Dacorah; she obviously missed the trout hatchery! Fox

Thank you!!!!!!!!!! Foxy Have not been watching the eagles much recently due to pressure of "work". In other words, the osprey season has started, and I'm trying to stick with the owls, 2 lots, would feel dreadful to abandon them.

Hi Scyll, I couldn't get into Foxy's link ^^^^^ it gets nearly to the end loading but then stops.
From you post above - are you not going to follow the eagles this year?
I can't get any sound, I think it's my computer this time as I don't get sound anywhere. MMa

Re your sound problem - do a post in the computer help and Macca or Global or someone will take you thru the settings, I'm sure. Having said that, the wind at the eagles eyrie is deafening a lot of the time, so don't worry Horrendous developments at Loch Garten osprey nest - EJ (female) was very early back from migration, mate Odin not due yet. But a male osprey (Blue XD) whose nest had been damaged by storms and whose mate had not returned yet suddenly took up with EJ yesterday. Talk about consternation, nay HATRED from some followers The dear little soul has been working his bollix off with nestorations, mating every 5 minutes (not quite, but...) but he hasn't brought EJ a fish yet, which is de rigueur.Lord knows what will happen when Odin gets home, it honestly doesn't bear thinking about. Roy Dennis (who was on Springwatch covering osprey migration from where they cross the Med in Spain) is going to repair XD's nest and hope he returns home. Do have a look at XD bringing in materials, he is impressive! Can't keep my eyes open any longer, see ya later

D13 has hatched! 12 and 13 were having a punch-up just now - so cute! There's often a blip with the video but it usually sorts itself out OK - try refreshing. The new camera is very good - it was paid for by last season's subscribers. Fox

Razzle informs us "D12 & D13 work out the pecking order in the nest cup. This is a behavioral mechanism that establishes dominance and ensures success in the species." As egg #3 is quite a bit later hatching than the first 2, looks like we're going to have a vulnerable "Littlun" again to cry over

I don't like them fighting MMa I hate it too MMa That's why I copied Razzle's info, hoping to soften the blow. But remember last year, when all three ended up friends on the branch, no hard feelings They all just need to get thru the first days/week

Here is Razzle's capture of, among other things, a close-up of the egg, you can see the chick's egg-tooth thru the hole The 2 chicks look so scraggy compared to the fluffy grey Richmond chicks, don't they? That's how I remember them last year and why I was so surprised at the Richmond chicks' "cuddliness".
