I'm sure I'm not the first on here to be made aware of this cunning lil' scam, but I'll relay it anyway.........I'm normally well switched on with stuff like this, but this particular little bugger slipped by my radar.......
I ordered something from them about a month ago (to the value of £10) & as I went to pay, was asked if I wanted to take advantage of their "Free Delivery" service.......Being of the ilk that the mention of "Free" attracted my attention, I agreed to it & had the item sent to one of their collection points near to my home..........I duly collected it the next day & thought nothing more of it.........
However, perusing my online bank account last night, I noted a transaction of £79 having been taken from my bank in the name of Amazon Prime, 3 days ago.....having no knowledge of it, I immediately rang my bank & having explained the situation, was told that it has happened to numerous bank customers.....
Apparently, when agreeing to "Free Delivery", there is also a clause that you are agreeing to sign up to Amazon Prime & all it's crap, which costs an annual subscription of said mentioned Queens spondoolies & that they will continue taking it annually, unless otherwise advised........
I was advised by the bank to cancel the subscription immediately & that Amazon would reimburse me, providing I hadn't accidentally used any of the supposed benefits of joining........
I've now done that & had an e-mail from Amazon, informing me that I will be refunded..........What gets up my sniffing device, is that many people, particularly the old, vulnerable, & @spikeyfridge, could easily be out of pocket because of this unruly behaviour........So just be aware..............
"Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!"

I rang Amazon ages ago and cancelled and received a refund. Recently did another free trial but cancelled well within the month. Its all in settings in your account. Its not a scam ... most people don't read the small print and ... the devil is in the details!
Glad you got it sorted though

I had to log into my mums new account and remove the 3 months trial of amazon prime as after that allotted time they then charge you £79 for a years subscription.... I also had to have a fight with 'Just Fab' Its a membership website where you pay £29 a month and can pick a pair of shoes, except if you don't, they still charge and they took £200 from my teenager who didn't realise and it took 18 months before she mentioned her £50 a month pocket money was not going far. All she did was order one pair of shoes and the site is a minefeild, its sly tactics Because she was under 18 I was able to have all the money paid back to her but it was only on that score did we manage a refund. Husband also wasted well over £300 on 'Naked Wines' he thought he'd got free wine?......imbecile! how can you not notice chunks of money leaving your account..... I know I shop wildly via paypal but I work out every penny leaving and entering my bank account! You have to nowadays

Mrs Oneday got caught by the Amazon Prime thing too. When she contacted Amazon she was refunded immediately without discussion so they must be getting flooded with people calling up for reimbursement

It is made pretty clear when you sign up that they will charge you that amount after your one month free trial, so not really a scam. We use it quite a lot, grab our free delivery and fit as much as we can in during the month, we also then use their free film service, and cancel after 28 days, both my wife and myself have done this 3 times each so far, you just have to keep your eyes open and use it to your benefit

On the flip side if you have love films which is now Amazon video cancel it and get Amazon prime for a few more s Spondoliks you get the films, delivery, storage, books etc. I do agree though the amount of peeps that get caught out is pretty bad.

Its fairly obvious you are signing up for a free trial of amazon prime. You must have missed it somehow. I did buy prime - and for me, as a regular user of amazon, it's great for free one day delivery (on eligible things). I haven't used any of the other things you get though.

I'm with Pepperty and @spikeyfridge Fall in love with online banking and thy spreadsheets folks! And always pay by cash when in the high st Cash is King! If you don't ye will suffer! I know folk on here generally don't like Moneysavingexpert.com (we had a problem - well a few of us - with the quit smoking thread a few years ago) but this is what they would say and those folks (and a few others) and vaping (old school) helped me get out of debt and I was in a lot of debt!!!

I would use prime if you could pay for it on a monthly basis as would a lot more I expect £7.00 a month just under is more bearable than £79

I pay the yearly fee for prime, you can use the same login for AMAZON prime over 4 devices so my tv at home, xbox on base and my parents are all included for the £79 a year plus free delivery (or a £1 kindle credit if you choose a slower delivery) You can also cancel (very easily) at any time during the year and you will be refunded for the months not used Can't beat it in my opinion

if you use Amazon prime you can cancel immediately and the one month trail will continue until expiry date that way you won't get charged for forgetting to cancel.
