They changed our gas meter from prepay to a normal one last August told us we would have a bill every quarter dispite chasing it up we have never had one, we asked for it to be changed because a it was faulty and b we couldn't get on floor to put key in
today i I get a prepayment bill estimated I have to add but saying we now owe £700.00 that's like a years bill I have been putting money away but only what we would have spent which is about a half of the bill, going to have to send them a metre reading and complain that they haven't sent bills out as stated hoping it doesn't come to that amount and ask to spread the bill, as spring summer is on the way we won't be using very much gas £ 10.00 a month max for hot water only cnly
the metre reader came round the other month asked him to read gas he said he couldn't only read electric,
its bs not as if we haven't told them time and time again as we didn't want a huge bill arriving grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
it it just peeps me off they change the metre but don't realise dispite us telling them on more than one occasion

clairea They are not alone in putting up stealth charges. British Gas reduce their power supply charges by approx 5 %, but they have now increased their maintenance contract repair scheme charges by 31%. Stealth increase of their profits. WAKE UP GOVERNMENT WATCHDOG, do your job. Us senior citizens are struggling to pay these increases.

it's annoying my hubby has only had a 1% pay rise in the past 3 years that's 1% every year we have calculated we are now about £400 a month worse off than we were 4 years ago due to inflation and ever increasing food costs etc,

I would recommend giving them meter readings on a regular basis (monthly) either on your account online or over the phone, that way you will be getting more accurate bills. It is so wrong that you haven't had a bill since August, I doubt they would be as lax with you paying the bill

Scottish Power are terrible at the moment. They keep getting banned from actively selling in threy market as they have countless complaints against them that they don't seem to be able to sort out. First of all complain, and get a complaints number. This is important. after 8 weeks you can then get the energy ombudsman involved. I didn't have a complaint number after 6 months of getting estimated bills for a house I'd moved out of and my account online not being updated to me new house so I couldn't put meter readings in. I got the Raw Deal guy at The Sunday Post to intervene. It was all sorted in a matter of days. My daughter has been in her new house for a year. They put gas into the house and Scottish Power installed the meter. They've still not registered the meter though. The Ombudsman has given them a list of things they need to do to resolve the situation and until it's resolved they are not allowed to charge them a penny nor are they allowed to back date anything. They are just a shambles and it's impossible to get anyone to take anything forward. I do have a contact somewhere in my e-mails that I'm wiling to pass to anyone who PM's me. I really want to change suppliers but i'm hesitant to incase SP muck the whole thing up

I changed from SP yesterday, thank goodness! It would take to long to go into everything that's happened on here. I have a complaints number but still nothing has been resolved. Been going on since Sept 14. They're an utter disgrace!

We can't change at mo as they cocked up our electric metre and are still paying off £1800 they undercharged us by no billing us correctly a couple of years ago,
Trouble is we can't see the metre it's to low for us to get down to read i, in a wheelchair and hubby can't kneel down due to knee replacement in one leg and no femor In the other we did ask for them to move it instead they replaced it,
I know from previous issues they can't charge you if the metre hasn't been read in 12 months for the period before that
In a previous flat they put gas in registered every flat but mine. For 5 years I had free gas dispite querying it every few months gas people said no gas was coming into my property so I was living on imaginary gas for years, never had one bill never got it recognised that there was gas coming in.
But this is stupid we had to book an engineer to change the metre and it was their idea that we changed. Not ours we just wanted it moved and checked

I thought I'd finally done with SP, how stupid of me
I paid my final bill by debit card over the phone last week £345, checked my bank to make sure it had gone out and thought great, that's it, done with them.
Looked at my online bank account today and the payment has vanished!!! no debit or credit, nothing showing at all and the funds are back in my account.
Here I go again, back on the phone to SP tomorrow
Edit...Just checked my bank again and it's now showing, phew! just glad I don't have to ring them again, what a company they are to deal with, never again!!

I had a problem like this , I put payment cards into my metre and it never went of , I rang them and rang and rang to tell them the metre wasn't right as £5 was lasting for ever and I didn't want a huge bill , eight months it tuck them to come out to go into a massive panic turning my electric off totally because the metre was tampered with and dangerous and then even tried to say I'd done it !! Surely metres are checked before people move in. This is years ago and I'm stil paying it of !!

Do your own meter readings, supply them by whatever means the robbing bastards ask for, then stick to your guns. Many people get so frightened by the 'we'll cut you off' mantra that these parasites often come out with, stand up to them and don't let them intimidate you. I switched from Eon to Ebico (Southern Electric) a few months ago, the first estimated bill was a complete joke, they doubled up on what I knew my consumption was, and the website that offers the opportunity to submit meter readings is for 'customer information only' one has to phone some desk jockey in Scotland and submit the readings. Once I did it was 'Oh sorry Mr Osdset, we'll put your amended bill online asap", cut by 50% on both gas an leccy.

They are ignoring the fact they changed our meter still, they still think we have a pre payment meter and have been feeding it since they put it in last year, they won't accept they have put in an ordinary meter, so at present we are quids up, but I know that one day we will get a huge bill when they realise their mistake, Still I read on a few sites they can only go back Last 12 months if no one has come to read the meter, I have done the right thing on a few occasions and have written to them and told them it's up to them now.

Pleased it seems to be sorted now Lynne77I'm in the process of changing to sainsbury's energy I thought it had
I've had an email today asking me to go back to them! no bloody chance! And another email telling me to go on my account and I can look at my latest bill and thanking me for being a SP customer. I've been online and my account is now closed, talk about one hand doesn't know what the other's doing, I think I'll just block all emails now, they just do not know what they're doing!!
