HoL liquids did 2 things for Me:- 1. Made Me realise that I could stop smoking. 2. Made Me look into making My own juice, based on real 'baccy.
Before I found HoL, I was vaping BCL, but still had to have a 'real' roll up 1st thing in the morn. & last thing at night. Yeah, HoL are quite pricey.....which inspired Me to look into how I could make My own juice with real 'baccy; 1st go was using the VG method as posted as a 'sticky' on AAEC.
I luv the taste of different tobaccos, with one important caveat:- don't set light to it!!

One that can supply a reasonably cheap sample pack would be ideal.

A 6ml injection of extra OC concentrate seems to have finally woken up the Old Captain (120ml premade bottle). Perhaps there was just an error at the shop when he filled it. I tried the HOL Cigarillo's yesterday and crikey, if I didn't know better I'd think I was back smoking the Hamlet Minitures. They have even nailed that back of the throat dry slightly bitter aftertaste you get with those smaller cigars. Fair play to HOL, it's clearly top notch, but as much as I used to enjoy the odd Hamlet I think it is perhaps too close to the real thing for me now and not what I am looking for as a 12 month non smoker. I'll try the Eden and Virginia later today to be sure of this conclusion as they might not be so harsh. But, if you are reading this as a smoker of small cigars looking to quit, this has to be your ideal initial quitting juice right here for sure. I can't get BCL's Old Holborn out of my mind, so I am just waiting for him to restock that. More worrying perhaps though is that I found myself eyeing up the spare Kilner jars I have yesterday and pondering... For "cold maceration" the Americans seem to just lob some tobacco in a jar, cover it in PG and leave it for a month or two at room temperature before filtering serveral times (I have a coffee aeropress perfect for that) - even I could manage this surely. Hmmm...

Oooo thanks @yinyang I'll get an order in straight away. I read that thread thanks. I think I'm going to follow the American method of cold maceration though as that just uses pure PG, is pour and leave, and if nothing else it will be easier to filter as the PG is thinner. I guess I'm doing this as I have already washed and sterilised the jars and have the tobacco ordered. I just went straight for Old Holborn and a wild card Burley and Virginia Shag tobacco. This is just a test, so let's see. I am following this thread which has 35 pages and makes for an interesting read... www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/threads/cold-maceration-of-tobacco.508026/Oh my - what have I started

@yinyang www.wholeleaftobaccoonly.com(Shame smoke-king have dis-con. their pipe 'baccy 5g. samples as were ideal for a trial...) @hondo That's all I do! Easy, lazy & effective. There's a long thread on ECF about using heated Ethanol but sounds like work!!!

@hondo yourgurnard ... I have ordered a 50g sample pack of Red and Gold Virginia leaf and a pack of lab filters and have an airtight glass jar sterilised ... The start of a long slippery slope I fear

Nice one @yinyang - we are in this together! I'm guessing you'll have less filtering to do using whole leaf, unlike my very loose Old Holborn baccy. I'll probably buy leaf next time, depending on how this works out. I'm also hoping to get away with coffee filters - I have an Aeropress I bought for coffee that I didn't get on with (prefer my coffee dripper) so it would be awesome if it helps with this. We should probably start a new NET thread in DIY or the girls (Snow & Perpetua) will be on us soon

@hondo ... Great idea about a separate NET thread to keep all our experiences, suggestions, successes and failures in the one place. I ordered the whole leaf from m.wholeleaftobaccoonly.com ... £6.24 delivered for the 50g sample pack but they do larger 500g packs for around £22. The lab filters are from Amazon ... 100 for £6.99. When I get my bits and pieces, I will start a new thread to document my experience with the odd photo where appropriate.

Nice one @yinyang, I'll jump over as soon as you start it. Hondo's Holborn lives! I used 3x 12.5 pouches (so about 1.2 ounces(ish)) and it took more PG ratio that he suggested to cover it (it just kept soaking it up like a teen during a Friday night happy hour). I used about 230ml of PG in the end I think. So that's it, nothing left now but to ponder filters and

I'm just back from a NET inspired visit to IKEA. 4 x 500ml mason jars @ 80p each. 1 x 1litre coffee pot / plunger/ filter thingy @ £6 ( they also do a 500ml one for £4 but it has a narrower neck). Set of 2 kitchen funnels @ £1 I think that is me sorted for equipment so £17 all in including the £6.99 for the lab filters is not too shabby. All I need now is delivery of the tobacco leaf and I am in business.

Oh my @yinyang the bug has well and truly bitten I see I finally got around to trying the last of my new samples from BCL today, Stirling, and despite the Turkish tobacco element I found this to be much more to my taste. The virginia is clearly detectable and blends nicely with the Turkish tobacco, allowing the spices to remain evident but also more modest and well rounded. Stirling is a clever and refreshing combination and I could easily see myself vaping more of this in the future.

Sorry to hear about the delay. My first order took nearly two weeks but the second one arrived next day, so seems hit or miss. I've just ordered again so fingers crossed. To be honest I'd say it was mixed results with the BCL juices for me. Three of the samples I've tried were excellent though, Old Captain, Old Holborn and Stirling. But, I'm still struggling to get the 120ml bottle of Old Captain to the same taste level that the sample was. I have now added 12ml extra concentrate to it and that's steeping so we'll see. I know I'm not going mad becuase this morning I found the dregs of the sample bottle and had just enough to soak the cotton on a Kayfun build - 6 vapes of heaven and much much better than the large 120ml bottle I have. I think I may have a duff 120ml bottle, hence a new order today to be sure one way or the other.
Everything crossed your package arrives soon mate!
