As title. I have a Trustfire, TR-001 charger that sometimes will work perfectly but, more frequently, will simply flash green/red rapidly and won't (obviously) charge the batteries. Is the charger at fault or could it be the batteries? I use double-protected 10446 batteries in it and those I tried today are fairly new (been charged a couple of times each previously). I paid around £11 for the charger but can replace it for half that price and have no problem with doing that. Thanks if you can. Fox

did it used to charge your batteries ok? if so i would imagine the charger is at fault... like you said they can be picked up fairly cheaply so may be worth getting another

What a pain. So you can't charge your batteries now.

After hours of trying today (on and off) two of the batteries are now charging - curiously they are older ones. Since posting here I've had a Google about and some seem to say that if the batteries (not the ones I have but similar) are completely flat, they won't charge. The trouble there is that the battery life on my GGSlim is so short that the battery is 'dead' before I can say Imeosatitis (or whatever) and, some say, that is IT! Sheesh! Why do I vape? Striking a match was a hellavalot easier. Fox PS: Something I forgot to mention: Once I've inserted the batteries and the manic flashing has commenced, it will continue even with the batteries removed. I've tried switching off, leaving for half and hour or so and switching on again but the flashing has continued. One of the two batteries I did get to charge, has now finished satisfactorily. Me Flummoxed!

I wouldn't trust it either Foxy . . . my first TR-001 went odd after a year of hard use. But for what it cost, it's not the end of the world. I bought another one and also a Ultrafire WF188 . . . unless we're prepared to shell out for a Pila or the like, personally I don't think we can expect some of the more reasonably priced equipment to last forever.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Foxy.
The charger light should stay green if there is no load ie., no batteries. I would advise to get a multimeter and measure the voltages and amperage on the charger when switched on with no load. Also measure the batteries. If they give you very little voltage , chances are they are dead and cannot be recharged.
It's not a good idea to completely run down lithium batteries..They will die very quickly. They are not like NiMh. So if your PV needs a lot of power to run, change batteries more often and do not run them down fully would be my suggestion. This way they will give you a better life.

Thanks for all your helpful advice folks - what I know about batteries would go on the head of a pin! I will ditch the charger and replace it; I will also do my best to re-charge before the titchy batteries run down - not always easy to guestimate. Cheers. Fox

Just noticed that you are in Hertfordshire...If you wander down Enfield way just bring it along with you and I'll give your charger and batteries a once over if you wish..
