Thanks very much. I've been buying These and using 1 a week. Am I better sticking to this and causing myself less stress. I really want to give it a go but if people are saying they are a nightmare it might not be worth it.

I really want to give it a go but if people are saying they are a nightmare it might not be worth it. I haven't tried to recoil the Nautilus heads with a vertical coil but find it easy to do so with a horizontal microcoil.
The older style heads (smaller holes) need 2 opposing holes of the 4 drilled out to 2mm. A microcoil can then be fitted from the bottom of the head and lined up with the drilled out holes. I use 28AWG, .32, Kanthal.
I do these coils for 5 friends & family. The coils last for several months of dry burning & rewicking. I'm just starting to get some back for recoiling after 4 months use.

Crikey! 4 months?!!! What wire did you use???? I want some!!! .32 Kanthal makes a robust coil. I'm not saying the heads have been used constantly for 4 months.
I usually give 10 heads to start them off when they get some Nautilus/Minis. 3 of them use other tanks as well and Angie & I use 16 Nautilus Minis so each head gets quite light use. We all use cotton tape as wick so the coils aren't subjected to being pulled about having been over stuffed with cotton wool when they first try rewicking.

I don't use anything less than 0.25mm, and that is for my OH as she likes higher ohms. Mine are always 0.35 or thicker. My fave at the moment is twisted 0.25, but I going to re-coil with twisted 0.35 when I do it again. Not sure that any of those will fit a Nauti stock head though. And if you are giving head...... pm me

@tubthumper Cotton Tape or Cotton Yarn, same thing, is a strip of woven cotton.
Some while ago there was a thread about Ricoh Cotton Yarn. I got some but found it was not quite wide enough for my 2mm dia coils. My daughter in law works for a fabric company and I asked her to get me some cotton tape 6mm wide just to try. She gave me a 250 metre roll. I find it needs boiling 3 times to get rid of the taste of the 'dressing' they treat it with.
It's so easy to use because it's the right amount every time. We all use it in Kanger & Nautilus heads.
Angie & I have recruited 3 more new vapers recently. They are using basic kit and I supply them with wicked heads that they return to me for dry burning & rewicking. If they take to vaping I'll get them onto nautilus Minis & the iStick 30W and I'll just recoil the heads for them.

tim You are right. Bought some thicker wire on my second failed attempt with RTAs. Couldn't get the coils through the bottom of the Nautilus heads. Looked like they might fit through the top but didn't bother as the .32 works well.

Wouldn't woven cotton restrict wicking as the strands don't all run in the same direction and cross each other diminishing the wicking effect. ?

sydsut Theory v Practice. I just know it works for the 7 of us. As the tape is pulled through the coil I twist it and when trimmed I can see that it has rolled and there's hollow centre. I prime the wick well and use it after it's been stood for a couple of minutes. We all use low watts and only get burning if we stray from that. I vape from 5 to 8 watts depending on the juice.
