hi all part 1 question is what watts do you run your 0.5ohm coil at ? (im using ivp mini2 with subtank 0.5ohm coil) do you run at different ohms for different flavours or stay at the same ? if you can give me some examples that would be great (atm using red astaire, fireball, blackjack, some subtle menthols and may be trying some custards or sweet type flavours) its just to give me a base idea as i think i may be running to high around 20w and think possible burning ,or could just be im burning coils quickly not sure,so your experiences would be good to hear cheers russ

I usually vape my own fruit mixes at 25w-35w i just prefer a warmer vape with fruits, deserts like custards i prefer at 20w-25w, not sure why but they taste better at a lower setting, maybe it's because of the sweeteners or something dunno.

According to my calculations, my current .5 ohm build in a mech mod running off a Sony VTC4 at a nominal 3.7v = 27.3watts. This of course will increase/decrease according to battery voltage and coil resistance.

wow guys.. i thought i was getting a funny taste at that rating not sure about burning coil or just hot/possibly peppery on back of throat (25w 3.8v) definitely something there but not sure if thats part of flavour/sensation , set at 18w,3.2v ,set at ,22w ,3.5v the feeling back just subtle (testing using snake oil atm). its my first foray into this game and wanted opinons so as to get best from set up.....mind you got an atlantis in the way as well so taht will probably alter things as well...also got stingray clone with areotank mega on come today (see other posts !) so another thing to work out ! (besides a kayfunlite and a plume vale v2 ) just a neewbie with lots of kit to try thanks for input thats great cheers russ

I seem to be able to only go up to about 20w with my 0.5ohm subtank mini. Anything higher either burns or just tastes weird.

If it's 'peppery' that's generally the taste of nicotine. Don't go straight to a sub-ohm setup without reducing your nic. Most of us halve it at least.
To answer your first question I generally run anything from 20 - 30Watts at 0.5 ohms.

The Ego One tank with 0.5ohm head I run between 15 to 30w (e.g. lemon/fruits at 15w, red astaire/high voltage at 30w).
The Kanger subtank with dual coils at 0.6ohm I run between 25 to 35w (e.g. again as above, fruits lower with RA higher).

Your wattage will also depend on the VG/PG ratio of your liquid. As high VG mixes tend to be thicker they won't wick as fast so you will have to run at a lower wattage to compensate. For example I usually mix at 70/30 VG/PG and generally can't go above 23w with my subtank mini.
Cheers Chris

PG has a lower boiling point than VG so you can vaporise high PG using less power, it also makes more vapour at lower temperatures than VG, at higher temps VG makes much more vapour. Dr K Farsalinos temperature control VG vs PG
