I tend to stay around the 20W mark, any more than that and i start to get dry hits and burning. The PG/VG ratio makes quite a difference as does how much sweetener there is in the liquid - this is the reason that dessert type juices kill coils quickly.

A dripper is the easiest to setup for twice that kind of power (or more) which is why they are popular with cloud chasers.

I'm tween 10 and 13 watts on a .6 subtank. 50/50 18mg dessert flavour. I have no idea what I've just said but works for me!

Please help me. I've just bought a new Horizentech Arctic sub tank with a 0.5 ohm coil. I'm really confused about what wattage/voltage I should be running at (I know it's personal choice but a brief idea would be good). I've primed the coil and got some nice liquid in it just not sure of the numbers. The liquid I'm using atm is 50/50 pg/vg but once my bottle of vg arrives (I make my own liquid) I'm going to move up to about 70 vg/30 pg Please don't confuse me

You will never go wrong by starting low and adjusting to taste anemmaknee adding a few watts at a time until you find what suits you, maybe start at 20 W.

I use a ipv mini a lot and I can tell you if it's set at say 20w it WILL be giving around 25w to 27w.

+1 to starting low and stepping up bit by bit it will only take you a minute or so, there are guidelines for vaping but at the end of the day its what works for you thats important, if you vape at 5-10w above or below the range suggested for your coil its no biggy its the quality of vape and taste that you get that lets you know the sweet spot.. fwiw ive found i am vaping at a higher watt rating than i was 3 months ago using the same/similar coils.. just cos the mod in your hand can push out more watts you dont need to use them..

I tend to use it more on the voltage setting rather than watts. it is set at 4 volts atm and I'm getting rather a lot of vapour and a nice taste from my liquid but I've only tried 1 liquid so far (Blueberry bubblegum).
I don't like it when the vapour goes too hot and it this setting it stays quite cool. just don't want to set it to something that is dangerous or could damage my coils.

I'd switch to the wattage setting myself anemmaknee . . . . between 20-21.5watts I run my .5ohm coils at - hot vapes aren't especially enjoyable for my tastes either. I don't like it when the vapour goes too hot and it this setting it stays quite cool. just don't want to set it to something that is dangerous or could damage my coils. Your coils are going to get damaged/used whichever setting your using them on. They won't and don't last forever.

By damaging coils, I meant burning them out really quickly or otherwise damaging them before they reach the end of their life . Is there a major difference between using wattage and voltage?

iirc on most mods the difference is that the battery protection feature(s) work in power mode whilst voltage mode is effectively override setting, as power is fixed you get a gental curve output and wont overdrain the cells, in fixed voltage mode you demand too much from the cells and ageing them faster, power = volts * amps, so setting the power mode means it will adjust the voltage as the available amps change, fixing the voltage means it under currents giving uneven heating performance and can lead to faster crud buildup on the coils the life span of the coil(s) is limited primarily by the juice used, if you slurp sweets /custards /coloured juice all day the coils will last less time than if you go for clear pure flavours sans sweetners etc (but they taste nasty to most people) RBA's are the way ahead if your worried about coil costs given that you can build coils and wick them for about 2p each on the RBA decks its worthwhile investing the price of 5 packs of coils in the gear if vapeing is a long term habit for you. I switched to vapeing from smoking because its healthier, and now that ive started to reign in the urge to buy every tank /mod on the market it is indeed a much cheaper habit
