We are the UK agents for the Cyprus Potato Marketing Board, so we speak to Cyprus at least 3 times a week, no hint of trouble there, the only problems is financial so they welcome foriegn money (with the euro at current rate you'll get good value) and because of finances russians pulling out, which if i'm going on holiday i'd consider a bonus MP

Got this from the Gov.uk site. updated 9th March
Terrorism
"There is a general threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreigners.
There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time".
Personally I would go somewhere else but is anywhere safe nowadays.

Cyprus, greek or turkey side is too far removed from the problem IMO It bears little strategic significance to IS or assads forces and would prove something that would be very hard to maintain. Also it would risk dragging turkey and Greece into their power struggle. I can't really see any reason not to go and enjoy your hols, particularly when you consider that there will be fewer russians

Yep this wouldn't bother me either, now Tunisia that would be a different matter even though there are some awesome deals atm. TBH you gotta be sensible in all those sort of countries including Egypt and Turkey etc. The Gov.uk will always say that there could be issues when one country is close to another.

To follow my earlier post, we went to Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia last year, I checked .gov website and it said same as earlier poster quoted, was little worried about Bosnia being a muslim country, it was wonderful, not threatening or worrying, we returned by a little used mountain road about 200 kms long, deserted but never a worry (apart from our crappy rental breaking down). The most hostile place I been eastern europe or med was Serbia, but that was not long after the war.

We are going to Paphos, Cyprus in September. The thought of terrorism there did not even cross our minds. I remember in the 70's going into London, the IRA were blowing stuff up all over the place in the the capital then, it didn't stop me then it would not now. Which resort have you booked?

I'm exactly the same but have found in the past that the insurance companies can be a bit picky and ramp their prices or even refuse to issue a policy.

Niki on RY4 Radio goes to Cyprus a couple of times a year because her sister lives (and vapes) out there. If you have any serious concerns, contact her and get her sister's phone number? (She's nikiry4 but hasn't been seen here since February.)

My dad was in Cyprus 6 weeks ago and had a great time as always, they go twice a year. He has some friends that live in the mountains, they take him out shooting and then have a huge meal with the hunters and their family's in the evening.
