Sorry gordy180 not sure i have taken any in those conditions. 1 thing i should point out i forgot in my original reply this camera does not have a view finder which is not ideal and seeing the image on the screen in sunshine is not easy.

Thats the kind of camera im looking for. Ive been having a search on the web and its a toss up between cannon panasonic and the sony you mentioned. The only problem i have is how each of them cope with low light photos which seems to be a problem with most compact cameras

Even dlsr often struggle with low light. Are you wanting to take pics indoors or outdoors lowlight? Also what sort of budget are you looking at?

Compact cameras struggle in low light without flash because they have small sensors, megapixels mean nothing when the sensor is the size of your finger nail. D-Slr's are better as they have bigger sensors but what you should be looking for is the ISO ratings, the higher the number the more sensitive the sensor is to light but with that there will be more noise in the photos. Top end D-Slr's have ISO ratings that can be pushed to 128,000 but the norm is 8,000. It's the same as it was in the film days, ISO 100 film and below for static and slow moving stuff, ISO 400+ film for fast action.

Now that I've decided on what camera to buy. What is the best SD memory card to go for?

Personally i would go with a recognised brand and at least a Class 10 one but you would probably get away with a class 6. Treat SD cards like Hard Drives, don't buy cheap and try not to get a massive one that could lose a ton of photos if it has a hissy fit. Better to buy 2 smaller ones than one whopper. I personally use Sandisk Extreme 4's: Sandisk Extreme
