Heyas peeps got a little problem and for the life of me I cannot figure this out.
Attempted a rewick and recoil of the subtank ooc head just now and was aiming for 0.8-0.9 I used a 2.5mm former and 0.37 mm kanthal ( thickest I have ) As per the tutorial I did not heat and squeeze coil before installing ( micro coil style ) but left a gap between coils. I did 5 full wraps. The calc I normally use said 4 1/2 wraps. Didn't think that was right so used steam engine. That's saying 7 wraps. Tried anouther that said 9 wraps. So I went with 5 full and its 1.1 ohms not to far out but I'm puzzled. Normally I can get my coils spot on useing the calcs but this gauge wire is not behaving Help lol
I need rum .......

Weird... what leg length did you input igual? And what length do you think the legs actually are? In steam engine. I input single coil, 0.8ohms, 5mm leg length and 2.5mm ID and it's saying 5.33 wraps

Leg length I reckon due to the height of the coil is closer to 8 mm Its odd as I tried several different leg lengths to make the sums fit lol but Nada.

Even different mods and ohms checkers do this. How do we know what we are actually using if we cant afford an electronics lab? ?

With 8mm leg length, Steam Engine is saying 5.03 wraps... not sure why it's telling you 7 though

The calculators all assume that all wires are the same resistance at a given thickness. Look on the crazy wire site and find out the ohms per metre and then divide that figure by 100 to get ohms per cm - then just work out how many cm's you need for the coil you want.
