Hi I am new here, saw a post on mse about this forum. I've never tried to stop smoking before or even thought about it but I was just reading some posts on another forum and it's made me want to try out these electronic cigs. I'm 22 this year and have been smoking for 7 years roughly. At the moment I smoke about 6-8 a day. I want to stop now just for my health really.
I'm not sure which one to buy that would be good for me? I am interested in getting the flavoured cartridges.
Aren't the e-cigs still bad for me though, just not as bad as cigs? Wondering how I would quit e-cigs if I managed to quit the real ones.

Hi Hypnoclown, Glad you made it over Okay, you're a light user, I would suggest you give ecigs a try and as a start for a Lady user i'd sugget the SD Keyring which can be found here www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-sd-keyring-ecig~266 just choose the flavour you fancy, use the code "allabout" (no quotes) to get a 10% discount. This little marvel will outperform a cig-a-like by a BIG margin and is low cost. The flavoured cartridges are here www.vapeescape.co.uk/sd-keyring-prefilled-cartomisers~272 if you like the experience and want to move up to other ecigs you can just ask here again. There is a HUGE amount of negative and totally unfounded myths about E-cigs about, there are some BIG companies that will lose out when E-cigs take off. The FACT is that there are over 4000 carcinogens in cigarette smoke and so far 0 in E-cigs. The only true thing to breathe in that you can be 100% sure will not affect you is fresh air. However there is no proof that e-cigs are bad for you. The liquid used to make the vapor is used in medicines plus some flavourings that are used in foods and nicotine which is not harmful in the sort of dose you get when vaping, that's it, nothing like to 4000 found in smoke. If anything you are dramatically reducing the amount of the potential poisons you are putting in your lungs. Please keep asking questions on here and please keep us updated with how you're getting on. * Note to other AAEC members, try not to bombard our new member with LOADS of information, let's keep it simple folks!

Hi Hypno, welcome to all about 6-8 cigs a day is not much compared to some folks, a look a like kit would prob be a good place for you to start. Some one wil post a link to a good one shortly I'm sure There are many flavours to choose from apart from tobaco if this is what your after, fruity ones seem to be very popular. Your right, e-cigs arent 100% safe but on a scale of 0 - 4000 they are about 4 (according to a doctor whos link I can't find atm) Some people choose to use the e-cig as a safer alternative to normal ciggys, others convert then lower their nicotine juice strength over time to 0 nic. It's your choice

Aren't the e-cigs still bad for me though, just not as bad as cigs? Wondering how I would quit e-cigs if I managed to quit the real ones. My personal view is that you've never tried to stop smoking before and you should try that first. E-cigs are great for someone who can't or won't give up smoking. I'm not sure in this situation, they are right for you. However this is only my personal opinion. I totally believe e-cigs are safe, but that doesn't mean non smokers should be trying it. And you could be a non smoker if you tried, you don't know yet. If you have trouble giving up smoking, then certainly e-cigs could massively reduce any risks you get from smoking. I'm so sorry if this goes against any opinions here.

Hi Hypnoclown and a warm welcome to AAE-C with cartridges or cartomisers you'll be able to refill yourself with flavoured e-liquid.. there are hundreds of flavours to choose from which is half the fun of vaping e-cig are easier to quit if you want to as you can gradually lower the nicotine level of the e-liquid you are using until you get down to no nicotine at all... that way you'll end up vaping a non addictive liquid which should be simple to quit

My friend is a light social smoker but hates the way she feels the next day. She used this when she was out on Saturday and was very impressed. You can buy prefilled cartomizers for it and these can also be refilled www.safercigs.co.uk/Intro_Vapour_24MG_B_H/p705283_4164248.aspxUnfortunately it's out of stock at the moment but I'm sure i read somewhere that Daz is getting more stock this week

Tescos pharmacy sell a disposable e-cig, which might be handy to try to see if you like the set up. You can get disposables on-line, but this you pick up. You might find with being such a light smoker that one of these will be enough to help you stop altogether its £5.99 . I could put the link up to Tesco site but the one on there is different from the one they actual sell in pharmacy in the store. My Tesco s pharmacy have it sitting right at the front of the counter so you cannot miss it. I admit I have not tried them, although do have a couple put aside in a drawer for emergencies. Its called a Nicolites and supposed to be equal to 25 cigarettes so would last your quite a few days. Not saying its right for you but just an idea and something you can pick up locally most likely. Good luck I am a newbie but found once I tried my first e-cig that it was perfect for me, but I smoked 18 a day so quite a bit more than you and so far not touched and hope to never touch a real cigarette again ( the one you set fire to )

That sounds like a really good idea PaH....
Or like some chemists have vapourlites....believe they are similar though don't know how much they cost. Think they were inde chemists...
Or else I'd recommend a fake cig and some mints (crave away I think it's called)...
If you are only smoking 6-8 cigs a day I would maybe even gradually cut down and use something like the Tesco one or like the fake cig or something inbetween. I believe it tastes pretty similar to the real thing but no vape and is only a few pounds (again independent chemist or ebay)
Hope that helps hun

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I was doing some research and it kind of put me off. Does anyone have any good articles I can read. I am thinking they are probably better for me than a real cig. I have tried one of those nicotene inhalers before just to try and I don't like them so I want a vape one if I decide to get one.
I was wondering how you know when to stop inhaling it because with a real cig it's obvious when it's near the filter? Also are these safe to smoke indoors where children live? Do they smell?
