Hi all,

Im Phil a long time smoker who had a heart attack 3 weeks ago to the day, I had bought a basic ego/510 shiva pen with a ce4 plastic clearomiser? or head a few months ago and not gotten along with it, but after the event.. had another go and found it a good replacement, a friend gave me a kanger protank 3 head and i have ebayed a couple of spare batteries one a 3 day 2200ma job, but i have managed to kill one of the batteries already.  I gather this is due to juice leaking out through the bottom hole in the head into the battery?? 

the pal who pointed me here also pointed me to www.fasttech.com and i have ordered a ?mechanical mod? which seems to be the jargon for battery case

this gives me 3-4weeks while i wait for the slow boat from China/Singapore  to arrive in the UK to sus out what batteries and charger to buy to power it all.

The questions i think i need answering at the moment are:

Do i opt for the most powerful batteries i can afford? and how many should i be looking at buying?  is there any gotcha's involved here?

Also when it comes to the charger used for the batteries is there anything i need to look out for?

Once i have sused that out i guess im going to have to learn all about the different wires used to replace the coils and the difference between cotton silica and stainless steel wicks??

tbh this all seems a little over complicated or perhaps im just making it harder than it needs to be..

anyway I thought i should post and say Hi before i start peppering the boards with my noobie Q's

Hi Phil welcome to AAEC.
The vamo you have ordered is not a mechanical mod it's a regulated mod, mechanical mods don't have any electronic gubbins inside you just draw power directly from the battery.

The Vamo you have ordered can take two kinds of battery 18650, these ones wil be good.

This is a suitable charger that can charge both types of battery, you don't need to worry about settings or anything it automatically detects the type of battery.

I would buy at least 2 batteries so you have a spare to use while the other is charging.

The 18650 batteries will last a lot longer between charges than the 18350 ones, the Vamo will be shorter in length with the 18350 installed so less bulky easier to fit in a pocket etc.

I'm not familiar with that particular tank so not sure if those particular coils can be rebuilt but fasttech do sell spares fairly cheap.

nice starter set up there
idd recommend getting 2x 18350 batts for out and about and a 18650 batt for home use(vamo is a long bugger in 18650 mode and to use in 18350 mode you unscrew one of the tubes)
intelichager i2 is also a good cheap charger
this is the guy a lot of us get batts from but i think he only sell them in pairs

the high amp 18650,s ar worth spending the extra few quid on as its better to have and not need than get down your vapeing path and suddenly find you need them

Cheers for the warm welcome and all the links.. its going to take me a while to chase them all and digest the information..

Thankfully the slow delivery will give me plenty of time on that score..

So ive learnt one new thing today - a mechanical mod has no electronics getting there, all be it at a snails pace...

My gut tells me i will be better off sourcing batteries and charger from a UK supplier (less chance of a ripp off and explosion- i hope..)
