Hi all I have been looking for a decent wood Squonker for awhile, well today I have taken the plunge and ordered an Evolv Dna 40 from Cloud9 ( Stealthvape have no stock at the min) which is the large screen version. I also have this! ????. on order from Box Mod in Italy. Currently researching 510 bottom fed, and 16mm Fire button , also tactile buttons for Up/Dwn. I will be using a single 18650 (25R) still to research wiring gauge to keep it all safe, and the finish to use on the wood itself. Please be prepared for a lot of questions as the build moves along, but hopefully if I can put some real effort into it I should have a very nice Squonker at the end. Cheers

Cheers, it will be a learning curve, but really looking forward to it, the electronics side etc should not be much of an issue ( already looked over the wiring set up ) and have soldered components etc in a previous job awhile ago. Still researching other equipment mentioned above.

Might be telling you to suck eggs here but a good tip VapingBad gave me; "If you have silicon insulated wire tin it before stripping the insulation, u put the iron on the end and feed loads of solder in, once it's cool you can feel how far the solder tinned by bending it, then trim the blob off the end and strip or push back the silicon. I had a hell of a time until I figured this trick out, with silicon I try to pull the insulation back rather than stripping it off so you can push it back nice and close to the joint." Can't remember the gauge of top of my head but its on thier spec sheet, it's tight. Also you know Modmaker ?

Get high temperature silicon insulated wire for the power (510 & battery), Component Shop on eBay do a metre of black and red for several thickness. Give me a shout before you solder that I have a great method of doing it. You can use thinner hook up wire for the buttons.

car147 I have bookmarked ,so that I can follow your journey, to what looks like being a fantastic wooden squonking "deluxe" regulated mod. Only wish I had the eyesight & skills to attempt such a project. God Luck, no need to rush.

I use beeswax but just because I love the more natural finish. You just build it up coat after coat (10 to 12+) It is not as resilient as lacquer and needs more maintenance, but once built up, then just another coat and a buff up when required. With lacquer, several coats depending on the porosity of the wood allowing it to dry between coats. It should then be impervious to any juice spills.
