Airport Vaping

Hubby recently went off on a business trip via Heathrow airport so I duly dispatched him with a shiny new vape-stick in hand.  But he spotted no other vapers at Heathrow at all and wasn't brave enough to get it out.  I told him to ask the bar staff but he 'didn't like to...' *sigh*

Anyone else use one at the airport? if so were you the only one? whereabouts did you use it? did you get any reactions - positive or negative?

I know they allow it as I checked their website...


seems there is still a long way to go to integrate vaping so that everyone knows where they stand and that non-vapers know what it is.


and whilst I'm climbing on the soap box, I might just mention that I really don't like the term 'e-cig' I would personally rather that vaping was disassociated from smoking altogether, it may help get some of those 'it looks like smoking so therefore I condemn it' types off their bandwagons...

Heathrow used to have vaping zone, but that might have been shut now. Gatwick only allows vaping in the smoking zones, , unfortunately nothing once you're in the departure lounge, I normally take an ego with e and have a sneaky vape in the loo, naughty I know

Its also possible to hold the vapor long enough in your lungs so it doesn't blow a cloud

I can't possibly confirm or deny if that works in cinemas

well I'm not going to judge! I'd be having a sneaky one too if that was the only option.  Just a bit surprised as this is what Heathrow has on their website:


 "Electronic cigarettes

Passengers are permitted to use electronic cigarettes within our premises, however, these should not be used beyond the gate area. Where you are intending to carry cigarettes in your hand luggage, please check with your airline to ensure they are allowed on board the aircraft."

I thought there'd be happy vapers everywhere

Mate of mine flew out of heathrow fairly recently and said there were vaping zones, bit like the smoking ones they used to have, my only experience Is with gatwick and southampton, and they do not permit it apart from the smoking zones that are outside, they spout the usual rubbish ie someone else might see the smoke/vapor and light up

If all vape smoke was bright green it would make life simpler

Tried that with the old cig a like ones, bright green glow on the end, was still told the same thing, somebody could think you're smoking and light up, dread to think what was in any baccy that glowed green

disappointed (if not entirely unsurprised) to hear that some airports have banned vaping within the buildings.  It is such a moralistic  cop out on their part.  All it would have taken was to stick a sign up and says - 'vaping permitted in this area - no smoking'.  I'm sure there are suitable smoke alarms that can differentiate between smoke and vapour to police it.

Nanny state we live in I'm afraid, sports venues are the same, , I'm a season ticket holder at pompey, and you cant vape in the ground, same explanation given, and let me assure you, watching them recently, you need something stronger than a vape!

fwiw last time i flew (NotVery)easyjet they were pushing Zero vapour single use e-ciggys on the plane along with the charity raffle and costly snacks.. £5 a pop iirc, i was chewing nicotine gum and was an eciggy virgin at the time so didnt take them up on the offer.

Im currently on holiday in florida. We flew from gatwick. I just went for a sneaky vape in the loo. Also during the flight when I wanted a vape I put a blanket over my head pretending to go for a doze and double inhaled. Virtually no vapour comes out and my hubby said he cudnt smell any vapour either. Not that I'm recommending anyone do this. But it worked for me
