I have to say that vaping has given me a whole new crusade...I am more incensed by the day to read some of the lies that are told and published but it is at its worst when they are told by people in the medical profession - they should be ashamed! I've found my gums starting to bleed a little when I brush my teeth since starting to vape (about 10 days ago) - I knew my gums were in a terrible state having been told this by the dentist and it's why I quit smoking stinkies and turned to vaping. However my gums never bled when I was a smoker. So the facts: bleeding gums is extremely common on quitting smoking, regardless of your method - be it cold turkey or vaping. This is masked when you are still smoking but the signs of disease are evident from the receding gums. Then I came across this article written by a dentist and it made me so cross I had to share (so this is just a little rant really...) - he is blatantly lying on so many levels. linky to the liar
my first issue is that if he ever found someone who 'was never really a smoker' but who had taken to vaping...he must have searched high and low to do so, so I seriously doubt this and suspect he has made this first question up in order to spout his own nonsense. second is my biggest issue with him - under the section 'nicotine masks symptoms of gum disease' he claims that comments you may see on forums where vapers say that their gum health has improved are down to the nicotine in vaping masking the symptoms....WRONG WRONG SO VERY VERY WRONG!!! combustible tobacco products prevent gums bleeding - THEY DO NOT MASK SYMPTOMS OF GUM DISEASE OTHERWISE. So this guy is taking us all for complete idiots. These vapers on the forums of which he speaks were no doubt perfectly aware of their gum health issues before taking up vaping and like me, they had perhaps even done so in order to stop smoking stinkies and help their oral health. So if their dentists are now telling them that their gums are in better health...it is because THEY ARE! not because their dentists are suddenly fooled by the lack of blood. Oh for crying out loud this man just makes me want to weep. So please - if you have recently quit smoking cigarettes and taken up vaping and your gums have started to bleed - this is the lack of intensive nicotine input from the cigarettes - it is a GOOD SIGN. It is not caused by vaping in any negative way, it would happen had you gone cold turkey. So don't give up on vaping because of lies like those in this dentist's article. Yes you may still be taking in nicotine but it is evident that this does not compare to the levels in combustible tobacco by the fact that circulation of blood has now returned to your gums...this is cheap scaremongering by someone with their own agenda.

He`s got a hidden agenda: consider if all peeps stopped smoking using which ever method, their body`s health and circulation would be improved. This improvement would also effect their teeth & gums. Holy Shit !!!! he would have less patients and lost revenue. Peeps: It`s all about WEALTH not HEALTH.

The closer any legislation gets, the more rubbish like this will get published. We, as vapors/e cig users, need to be prepared for the onslaught, we may not have the influence of tobacco and pharmaceutical companies, but our voices can and will be heard, lobby your mp's mep's, health authorities, sign online petitions. Sorry this post is becoming a bit of a rant, but I hate the way anything that doesn't fit the establishments view is portrayed as somehow dangerous, and a threat. Happy vaping

They are all as bad as each other. They tell us that something is bad for us ( smoking tobacco products ) so they tax it and tell us it is for our benefit. Or they tell us something is good for the environment ( diesel ) wait till we all buy diesel cars and then tax it till it costs more than petrol.
The next thing is they'll tell us vaping is better than smoking, ( which we already know ) wait till a high percentage convert, then change their mind and tell us how bad it is ( anyone remember good cholesterol/bad cholesterol?? ) and then tax it ( for our own good of course!!). As long as there is a Government, of whatever political party or affiliation, we're stuffed either way. You're deluding yourself if you think one is better than the other - they are all snouts in the same trough. Cynical??....Moi??

I am afraid that's where your wrong, and exactly why the SNP are gaining so much support up here, they strangely actually care for the population, unlike the bunch of thieves in Westminster, masquerading as politicians. anyhow sorry to go off topic, back to Dentists.
