Dentist Sedation Clinic Tomorrow :(

well they wanted me to go to the Dentist Sedation Clinic Tomorrow and I tell ya I'm not looking forward to it and crapping myself lol

they did want me in today but said no its my birthday today so got out of it hehe

so getting a root canal done and a filling on the other side at same time so will have both sides numbed.

why they sending me there you may ask well the numb gum stuff wont work on me cuz my nerves are so twisted up by time I get there nowt happens and it wont go numb

will be twice as bad by time I get there in morning at 11am

anyways 4 months off the ciggies this time (my longest time yet) and dam I need a fag right now lol...  if I can get through this with out lighting up maybe I might of cracked this addition this time

anyone been through this Sedation Clinic thing before?? I'd rather go fight with 5 hells angles then go there I can tell ya  lol

we feel your pain (especially me).

me not had any injection for about 11 years due infusion treatment i am on for arthritis and it can turn toxic with injections.

this year alone ive had 2 root treatment, 2 crowns fitted and a clean up and the worst bit was the cleaning, i just cant stand that.

What i can tell you is that if you don't have it done the pain will be worse than the injections, toothache is something that people can't stand for very long - one of the reasons that dentists are loaded. Dental anaesthetics are powerful and localised, especially for root canal work, something that you'll realise 30 minutes after you come out and wonder why you look like a stroke victim. The x-caine painkillers (Ligno, Novo, Benzo) are very good at their job and fast at it, you'll be numb in less than 30s Their big brother cocaine is the daddy localised painkiller but hey, you won't be that lucky

as someone who only has a couple of chewing teeth left the initial prick/puncture of the local injection is the worst bit, then when you try n drink with numb lips a hour or so after the treatment and discover your dribbling tea all down your front.. and also be warry of biting the inside of your mouth if u eat after, dont eat till your no longer numb.. it will hurt if u chew ur cheek when the injection wears off..
next day you will be glad u underwent the minor discomfort tho.

sedation is nicer
inject you in the back of the hand then they can do what they like as you are unaware
you still get the numb gum and you come round from it pretty quickly you need someone to take you home obviously
on a serious note, they always advise not to go near a PC afterwards as you may buy something without realizing it (so no looking at aaec until the effects have completely worn off)

I'm bit like you, stuff in gums lasts about 2 minutes for me before I get feeling back, few years ago had to have 2 wisdom teeth out, they injected and pulled and pulled and pulled, no joy so sent me to clinic for bit of the sleepy stuff, it was great, wheeled in, dentist in charge told me while we doing it might as well do 4, other 2 no use anyway, off I go to sleepy land, woke up what seemed like 1 minute later right as range, got thrown out of recovery room because I kept asking staff to wheel me to the nearest wine bar, 1 hour later was sitting eating lunch. Was warned to take next 48 hours resting, 24 hours later was in Germany at a boat show munching down sausages like they going out of fashion.

So don't worry you'll be fine, just have a vape not a fag.

Well other awnser, drink bottle of scotch first, then sod them, can remove anything then and you'll giggle or fight them, works for me Saturday nights in Weatherspoons lol.

It's easy for me to say sealover1...but honestly you will be fine.

These guys know what they are doing, & you will be observed & monitored every step of the way.

There would be so many indications if you were even slightly 'aware'...

I'm with you sealover1, I still remember when I was a kid, sat in the dentist chair and the power went off. He said will you wait or do you want to make another appointment? I was out of there faster than Superman and making another appointment as far in the distance as my Mum would let me. I'm sure it's different now, and you'll be fine.

The stuff that you're talking about is the bonjela type stuff that they use to stop the injection hurting so much, after the "proper" painkilling injections there's no way that you'll feel anything .

... and *-SARIN-* should know about these drugs - that's all I'm saying (I'm sure you understand Sarin!). I'm so allergic to dentists following a traumatic childhood with the Redruth Butcher (my name, not his!) that I am now reliant on my Mum's side of the family and very solid teeth. I haven't visited a dentist in more years than I care to remember, but brush and floss, and apart from a few missing chunks, can still chew on a steak to my satisfaction.
Dentistry has made a great deal of progress since Mr. Smith was practising, and you will be fine. As already mentioned monitoring and pain control is very sophisticated these days and you will wonder what all the fuss was all about.

bonjela type stuff yuk I tried that and it made me gag I don't like the taste so cant use it

anyways just come round after 14 hours kip lol.. yeah went really well in case anyone reads this and is worried bout this sort of thing. god my guts was turning when I went in but yeah 1 little prick in my hand and don't remember much don't even remember the drug working I just went out light a light. woke up bout hour later no numb mouth or nothing though they did say they were going to numb it. I don't even remember my mrs driving me home. I went bed for good kip and hours later woke up bit of a sore tooth but they told me that will settle down in day or so but not worried about that at all.

never again I'm getting a numb gum I'm getting sedated lol
