Just started to taste my latest batch of liquid, and I'm getting a real nasty pepper taste to all of them. I've made my usuall staples from Mothers Milk, Beetlejuice, Casle Long and others. In these mixes, for the first time I've used VG Nic. i wouldn't think it's bad Nic as I got it from a reputable vender who we all no and trust (I Don't want to name as I don't want to cast aspersions). I know Nic does sometimes have a peppery taste, but do you know if it's more noticeable in VG. Also does it need a good shake before using? I can't think of any other reason. Trust me to buy a 250ml bottle!

I'm using VG nic at the mo and it's not peppery, tastes the same as PG nic to me. Only time I've had a peppery taste from any nic base was when I first started vaping and was on high strength 24mg. I don't vape any higher than 10mg now though.

I have certainly read that nic base separates and should always bee given a good shake before mixing.

Is have found some VG nic bases smell more peppery than pg bases. Once it had been frozen and some decanted no issues at all. I prefer VG nic to pg but keep a stock of both in freezer.

I only ever use VG base nic leroy4bz . . . . never had that issue. How long have you left your mixes to steep? There's a thinking that VG doesn't carry flavour as well as PG, again I've never noticed any difference - but you may find that you need to allow a little more time than what you normally do.

At first glance I'd say you need to lower your nic/ml concentration? Does that make any sense?

How dark is the nic base? mine is nearly 1 year old and still a very pale yellow colour, no peppery taste (was stored in freezer)

I've had it steeping for over 2 weeks, I usually leave them for a month so I'll see how they go. Thanks for your help guys and gals.

My view is its your taste buds of the day. Occasionally my juice has tasted peppery, used another with different flavour (same base) for an hour or two, go back and peppery taste gone. I have yet to have a peppery taste last long enough to require the juice to be binned.

Smell the nic solution if it smells of old socks it's either off or on the turn I think. I've had some that stunk of old socks and tasted peppery. I think it would have been ok to use but once I knew that taste it really bugged me so I chucked it.
it was vg nic btw

If your nicotine smells fine and is pale coloured then I'd suggest making up your mixes in a lower nicotine strength than usual.
I've found that when my juices taste horrible and peppery is because my body has adjusted to that percent of nicotine and by dropping down I get back my taste buds!
I know it sounds weird but it's how I know to cut down on my nicotine and the same nicotine base mixed lower seems to cure it
