People just like to buy things damian. Then tell you they're the best thing since sliced bread. It's like tooth brushes. There's no secret to cleaning teeth, or anything else. They are toys and it's all bahookey. I wouldn't be without my sonicare toothbrush

It's down to what model you choose. As Q recommended: The fact is, anything less then 30Watts is useless, much prefer 50Watts myself. There is NO battery powered unit can deliver the goods. Some will argue this point - that's up to them. I find 50Watts perfect at dislodging deposits in the air channels and such - you can't get a better clean*** *** disclaimer - with a decent US bath. I use a dental unit.

As I said on page 1, they reach the parts other cleanser cannot reach, where you can't get a brush, in corners, tiny screw socket threads, air and liquid channels or even get a pip cleaner in, you I have pipe cleaners, cotton of course. Big stuff you can clean under the tap with an old tooth brush, chemical solutions like acetone, bicarb & strident are good but not the same. And cleaning burnt on machine oil off a poor clone atty requires chemicals and often benefits from a good scrub, I've had to use autosol before to clean an FT tank.

Ultrasonic cleaners are magnificent pieces of kit, but I Personally do not and will not own one. A cheap Aldi cola bath then a bath in fairy and water followed by a scrub and rinse with a old toothbrush and water leaves tanks sparkly clean. Guess I'm just my mothers son (still recommend newspaper and a vinegar solution for cleaning windows and toothpaste as a grout cleaner.
Sometimes the old ways just work.

An ultrasonic cleaner has its uses. Like removing the taste of wee from an atty after I've someone's dropped it down the bog.

As someone with multiple RDAs, I find my ultrasonic very useful - gets stuff out of hard to reach places. Mine has a heater which seems to help. I always give new kit a blast in it to remove any traces from machining an/or shipping.

If you leave it standing for an hour or two the particles drop to the bottom of the water, I don't use mine in the kitchen as it's an old maplin one with only a 1:40 timer so sometimes it doesn't even get emptied that day.
