Hi,
I bought a new Subox Mini kit and filled the tank with liquid and started using it. Whatever wattage setting I use, it is making me cough all the time. In case it makes any difference, the strength of liquid I filled the tank with is 18mg
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

The thing wrong is very likely 18mg juice. Sub ohming that would make most hardened vapers cough, not to mention dizzy, white out. You need to at least half your normal nic % content.

^^^^^ That, plus:
With subohm tanks the tendency is toward an airier vape, which should really be taken with lung hits. If you're not a lung hitter then upping the coil ohms and closing the airflow right down is my advice.

If you haven't then I would recommend lowering your nicotine mg too say 10mg and see how that goes, sub ohm tanks will give you a lot more vapour and go through liquid quicker so you would inhale more nicotine per puff than before

As above try a 10/11 mg juice or lower, if you mouth to lung hit you might be better of with a nautilus tank. Sub ohm kit produces a larger volume of vapour in a faster time also hotter. Hence huge airflow holes.

As said 18 mg is your problem, needs to be 6-8 maybe 10 tops.

If you're mouth to lung use one air hole (or half) and put a "normal" drip tip on it to tame it.

Does nicotine make you cough? Doesn't for me. I use 24mg strength.

I would most definately say the culprit is the 18mg juice, that's pretty hardcore in a subohm tank! knock it down a few notches if not half the strength of it. If the juice is also PG based that'll give a stronger throat hit especially at low ohms/higher wattage. so try some VG.

Most definitely? I don't think so. "Whatever wattage setting I use" means it has little or nothing to do with a sub ohm tank. More likely the pg.

Well how can we be sure the wattage a true setting? weren't some of these units reviewed showing that it measures using DC mean instead of RMS when it's stepdown? which means 7watts would actually come out to 16watts, similar to the iStick. 16 watts + 18mg juice is going to cause a cough...

How can we be sure he hasn't got a cough? If it is a false wattage level, which nobody has mentioned until now, zero mg juice will give a similar reaction. I don't find a marked difference in throat hit from lower level juice.
