I've just been to the dentist and unexpectedly ending up having my left upper wisdom tooth taken out! The aftercare advice says not to smoke for 24 hours. So I was wondering if anyone knew if it is ok to vape? I've just read that sucking in air can make it start bleeding again and cause 'dry socket' which sounds horrendous! Any advice please?

I managed to when I had mine removed, i was gentle and used wide air flow to help prevent any suction causing the dreaded dry socket. obviously i'm not a medical professional! so it's entirely up to you.

I've always smoked/vaped after any extraction that I've had meganemerald with no adverse effects . . . . but then I'm a cussed old mare. You'll have to decide whether you feel able to take a chance or not . . . . .

I've also vaped straight after a tooth extraction & not had any problems. However, I completely agree with digiw0rx & Perpetua it is up to you if you want to take the chance

You're inhaling water vapour, unlike smoke so I would expect little chance of a dry socket.

Did they stitch the gum? If so a clot will be firmly in their and like others I've Vapes straight away after an extraction but used dripper with huge airflow. I had 2 dry sockets when I smoked and have had 2 extractions since stopping smoking ( teeth are buggered due to medication I'm on ) and suffered no dry sockets since I started Vaping. It's up to you.

Apparently cigarette smoke contains anti-coagulants as well as all the other nasties in it, good reason not to smoke after dental work. No such risk with ecigs

It's not the air you suck in that causes the problem. Dry socket is a bit of a misnomer. It's means a wound that won't clot, leaving the nerves exposed. Vaping increases your blood pressure, just as smoking does and can prevent clotting. Lie others though, I lit up as soon as I hit the street after a tooth out.

I never like Dentist visits, always sparked up as soon as i could after tooth extraction or dental work, had a knee Arthroscopy a few weeks ago due to the damage they found Op ended up over 2hrs.... happily stealth vaping as soon as i got the chance, i dont know what they are using as GE nowadays, but bloody hell i felt great straight away, and was eating the theatre nurses sandwich in recovery!
